I never have any money so havnt posted in here for a while... but got an insurance payout on my current MacBook, so went shopping:

Unfortunately the insurance company sent me a card with the credit on it, and I could only use it at PCWorld or Currys/Currys Digital.... so I couldnt take advantage of the free iPod Touch at the Apple Store.... it's also why I bought a MacBook that isnt in production/sold by apple anymore.

The Mac Version is only the Mac Version because it is white, there is no difference at all.

Why didnt PC World have the new MacBook Pro's?

The colour is the only difference? They look a different shape too.

They did have the new ones, but the one I got was 799, and the MBP was 899.... I didnt have the extra 100... plus the only difference seemed to be the the processor, and I can live without a couple of extra MHz. Both had 2Gb memory and a 160Gb hard drive, and the same graphics card (other than the firewire and SD card slot, but I've never needed either of those). Dont get me wrong, I would have gotten the Pro if I could, but I'm not in that position right now.

Was it a "timed" credit? I know when my MBP got stolen out of my car, I was given the credit to buy another, but I had a few months to make the purchase, if needed. I know some insurance companies aren't that nice though and basically say "You must have this item by this date, period".

All in all, if you're strapped for cash or just have a better use for the $100, you still made a good choice. They're virtually identical. The only deal breaker for me would have been the extra 2", which to me, makes a huge difference.

I had 12 months to use it, but to be honest didnt want to wait. Yeah dont really have £100 extra to spend to be honest, the one I've got should be fine :) and I managed to persuade them to give me a discount on the mouse :p

I'm using a Mamba, they work fine in OSX with something like SteerMouse or USB Overdrive... I use a parallels install to run the custom-config software, but all changes you make there are active in OSx.

My local Tommy Hilfiger Outlet Store had a 40% off sale. Combine that with the 40% off you get from going to an outlet store. Got some nice new tees and shorts... :)

Two of these in slightly different styles

And a couple of pairs of these.

I needed some clothes. At 80% off, I couldn't really refuse.

Preumably the outlet store's prices already factor in the 40% discount such that the further 40% discount is applied to the discounted price, in which case 40% off prices which are already discounted by 40% does not equal 80% off the original price :p

80% off 100 is 20 (discount of 80)

40% off 100 is 60 a further 40% off 60 is 24 (discount of 64)

You can download that from their website and use it on the PC mouse. :) Except the Mac drivers don't work with OS 10.5.6/7 so far... just get Steermouse or USB Overdrive...

Ohh ok, that's good then. I was worried I was going to have problems with it on the mac and would only be able to use it on my PC, but clearly not :).

Cheers guys... cant wait to go pick it all up from the store tomorrow!!

its looks good, mind telling how much you paid?

$395, probably a bit on the high side but, saw some going for closer to $325-350, but I wanted a clean one w/o dents or other damage the Alu's are prone to so I was willing to pay up.
