I got sick of the extra bulk and weight my leather folio case adds to my iPad, so decided to give this setup a try.
Went with a similar setup recently (although, I opted for a cheap back shell from China). The difference, while many would call it minor, is really noticeable. The experience has been completely different since I ditched the leather monstrosity.

Best way to go, I love the Smart Cover because it comes off so easily. I have an iCarbons on the back of mine instead of the Snap On Shield.
I have the same setup (dark grey cover instead of blue), it is so much nicer than the leather folio I had on my original iPad.

got this guy for 888$ on Amazon yesterday it dropped from 999$ for about an hour, and i had about 350$ in Amazon Reward points so getting this puppy for little over 500 bucks out of pocket. Technically not my last purchase considering I pre-ordered this way back in June of last year. However, it just arrived at my doorstep from GamingHeads.com yesterday evening so technically it's the last purchase I received. This thing is so cool, 350 in the world, this one is #248. It lights up and talks whenever you wave your hand in front of it. Stands about 16" tall and is made of poly-stone, whatever that is. It's for the biggest of Portal fans, and I think I fit into that category, lol.
