It's a scale for weighing a single dose of coffee beans. My old scale had a 1 gram resolution, so when it said 17 grams (a single dose for my filter basket), it could be anywhere between 17.00 grams and 17.99 grams. This one has a 0.01 gram resolution, so when it says 17 grams...it's 17 grams!!

The thing on top of the scale isa 200.00 gram calibration weight that come with the scale.

Espresso freaks are truly demented people!

No problem.
Neat, thanks. Looks good and a fair price too. I'm not quite to the espresso fanatic point, I normally just eyeball grounds into the chemex at this stage in my life. Though it will happen I have no doubt, between living in a coffee prevalent region and my tendency to dive headlong into various interests.. Just now steel frame bicycles are dominating my available time and paycheck. The scale is helpful in determining yield percentage of personal hashish production. :)

Stick with your bikes. Getting sucked into the espresso insanity, if you're a maniac like me, becomes an expensive hobby!

Enjoy the scale, if you decide to get it. Considering the level of resolution (0.01 grams), and compared to most that you can find here (at best, 0.10 grams), although not cheap, it's not outrageous for what you get.

A caveat: the scale it very small...about 4 1/2" x 3" exterior dimension. The actual scale platform is about 2 3/8" square, so you can only put a very small container on it. Probably OK for your purposes, but just be aware it is small.

I only drink espresso, double shots (that's between 2 and 21/2 oz per drink).

During the week, generally 3-4 doubles/day, weekends /holidays 4-5 doubles/day. A fair average is about 4 per day.

By volume, it's not as much as many who drink drip coffee by the pot! :p:D

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the simple ownership of a high resolution scale was not the total reason for you legal problems. Owning a scale, per se, is not a legal indiscretion.

I would guess, again perhaps incorrectly, that there were other ...um...issues involved in your legal problems, beyond the ownership of a high resolution scale.

Anyway...sorry about you legal problems...:D
