Went to Hobby Craft earlier with the kids to get the bits to make Mum's Birthday cards.... and it turns out they've started selling Lego :D

So my daughter got the last Friends kit she needed to complete the current series, and I got a set I never thought I'd see outside of the Lego.com Store or Lego Land: Big Ben from the Architecture range.

I already have the Tower Bridge set, so I'm hoping Lego release some more kits of English landmarks in the near future.

Sorry for the low quality pics, but I just picked up a pair of Oakley Pit Boss 2 for my birthday! I forgot this thread existed, I've been busy this year! LOL.

Unless you're downloading a lossless file, the quality is worse than a cd or cd rip
That is actually not so true. iTunes AAC+ has come long and far and to this day most people cannot determine the difference between this codec and a Lossless one (i.e. ALAC) in a blind test. Still while this topic is largely debatable, most have concluded that it is entirely placebo.

Still it is not to say that a music lover MUST buy a certain format over the other. In the end, its about the music more than anything else. Sure there is some good in purchasing a physical copy and I personally prefer this method myself. Yet look at this through a musicians point of view. Steve Guttenberg of CNET's "The Audiophiliac" wrote an excellent article on the subject here. He basically concludes that in the end, it is almost always about the music.

To be fair, many can't tell the difference because they have not trained their ears to listen to the differences, as well as not listening using equipment that has the definition and quality to portray the differences.

I myself will stick with Vinyl, SACD and CD when I can, but in the car it's my iPod connected to the stereo, and at home on my Genelecs.

My last purchase because I lost 1 on the highway, I forgot how expensive owning 3 piece BBS RS's can be: BBS Waffle

That isn't the point I'm making, as to whether or not you can distinguish between a lossless file or not is subjective. What is not subjective is that a lossless file has a higher audio quality then say an iTunes aac purchase assuming the both come from the same mastering.

.

Most people cannot tell the difference because they are using something like low quality computer speakers. No kidding most people cannot tell a difference, that is not what was being debated...

Anyway, if you need me, I'll be right over here living in the past with my recent vinyl purchase.

Recently made a similar upgrade gosh it has made such a difference, finally i can download large files and not have to wait overnight for them to download.

John Coltrane = Brilliant, try Giant steps or Soultrane, both very good albums by the man :)

Absolutely great albums! I have a soft spot for the Duke Ellington & John Coltrane album. I have all his albums on iTunes, but there is nothing like spinning the record! I'm slowly building up the vinyl albums for Coltrane.
