Just got 1 ticket for Coldplay AHFOD Tour Amsterdam, but I was actually planning on getting three. Second concert also sold out way too fast, waiting on the third now

Luckily I hadn't promised them to anyone yet or it would look like I'm being selfish by going alone. Nope, just a bit sad ;)

APPLECARE FOR MY 15" Macbook pro retina. Why am I excited about this? Because it was out of the 1 year limit, but Apple made an exception. Not only have I never had issues with Apple customer service, but they do things like this. For this, as far as computers, phones, and music devices, I stay with Apple.

Yep, Apple has been ridiculously good to me as far as mobile devices over the past three months. Replaced dud iPhone 6, swapped out several iPods and an iPad Mini. And on Wednesday, they allowed me to return a gently used iPad Mini 4 almost a month past the 14 day return date and refunded me in full. With that I bought an iPhone 6s+.

So with that refund, my full price iPhone 6+ with Apple Care and case comes out to $395.

I am staying put in spite of the iMac return debacle a month ago. I know I'll get a good machine, I am just wondering if I should buy it at the 5th Avenue store where I've been treated like royalty lately.

Nice! What games you planning to use to test that beast out?
Oh I don't know. It's been so long that I really did any real gaming. But Armored Warfare and World of Tanks come to mind. Plus, probably a lot of old school favorites of mine like Quake III Arena, Half-Life 2, Battlefield 2, the original Medal of Honor series like Spearhead and the Command & Conquer games.

Battlefield 2! I used to love that game. Wasted so many days at University!

Loved Strike at Karkland 64 player.

Went a little crazy this Black Friday. I had to buy a suit for an upcoming interview and winter clothes (50% off at Express and Gap).

Also got some running shoes from Nike clearance (25% off).

And finally, couldn't resist buying a PS4 Uncharted Bundle for $255 after an American Express offer was added from Newegg.

Alright, no pictures, because my camera takes film, and my phone is an antique Nokia.

But today, I bought myself - well, rather, today, I finished paying for - an early Yuletide gift for myself.

These are a set - a set of eight, unusually, as sets of six, twelve or 24 are much more usual - of antique fish knives and forks, solid silver with ivory handles and they date from a period earlier in the twentieth century, just at the beginning of the second world war, a period when the (commercial) use of ivory had not yet been prohibited. It would have been easy enough to source a silver plate version, but I preferred to wait for a solid silver set to show up.

They came in their box, pristine, and, I suspect, have never, ever, been used. That is, until the is evening, when the carer and I used two of them with our fish. Why keep a beautiful object solely to admire it? It is that glorious fusion of form and function, and it was designed to be used.

Anyway, I have been looking for a set such as this for at least five years, and spotted it a week ago, as it had just come in and hadn't even been priced in my favourite small antiques shop. Over the course of the week, I set about paying for it, and it came home with me today, in my rucksack. It is beautiful, elegant, understated, exquisite and a pure pleasure to use.

Have you ever need Applecare for something that exceeded the cost of it? Or are your Windows devices so perfect, that Apple products and their coverage is beneath you...

Yes.

Applecare has more than paid for itself in the first three computers I have had.

Moreover, it is valid for there years; I had a HDD failure on a MBP repaired - under Applecare - two and a half years after I bought the computer.

And I have had a keyboard and a Magsafe replaced in the third year of Applecare on the first MBA I owned.

i can tell you're very excited about the apple brand

my first apple product was a macintosh IIx back in 1989

never had apple care

what about you?

so you're telling me apple products routinely don't last three years?

you should be in their marketing team

Hmmm, we're on an Apple forum, I spent 2000 dollars on a laptop, took the time to ask for Applecare even though it was unlikely given the circumstances, came back to the Apple forum to express my excitement. How could you tell?!

Yea, I've used apple care twice in less than 5 months, which is disappointing. But I've owned Apple products for 15 years so I think I can give then a pass. You care to know how many PCs of different brands and models and android devices I've owned, that not only could I get a good policy on, but also just trashed em because it was hopeless and more costly to fix then than the damn thing was worth? I'll give you one hint; KEEP COUNTING.

Sigh. What a singularly uninformed post which manages to miss the point and instead, makes the usual internet rhetorical mistake of insulting the person rather than attempting to make an argument.

Anyway, no, that is not what I am telling you.

What I am telling you is that I have found AppleCare to be worth the cost. For me. This is because, for me, it offers me peace of mind for three years. Actually, my Apple buying cycle is determined by AppleCare, not by technological advances. The reason for this is that I never hold onto a computer for longer than three years. In fact, I would never buy - and I have never bought - an Apple computer without Applecare.

Anyway, the bottom line for me is that I have found that Applecare has paid for itself anytime I have invested in it. Some don't care for it; fine. That is their decision. However, my choice is different, and I have found that having Applecare has proved its worth in the past.

What's that saying about hitting a nail on the head? This is my number one reason for buying Applecare for my Macbooks. If I go the full length without ever using it, I have no regrets.

This thing is amazing. Lacking some apps on android tv but hope it gets there soon.
