My wife is an RN, and her current scope is running on being 5-6 years old (I want to say it's a Littmann Classic II?). Looks like something I'm going to file away for her.

That thing is a huge step up from my previous master classic II SE! I got almost scared when i examined a case of aortic valve stenosis the other day ;) But all my resident colleagues are jealous, bet your wife would love it! Also it is simply hygienic to get a new one once in a while. Although the price is steep and it is maybe a little overkill for the nurse staff (no offense!), most nurses in my department don't carry a Littmann. But as i said i bet your wife would freak out :) there is some really cool new color schemes

Life hit hard during finals week last semester with my 2010 MacBook Pro logic board failing. Figured since school was around the corner it was time to upgrade the setup.

  • 2016 MacBook Pro 15" TouchBar (Base)
  • 27" LG 4K 27UD68-P
  • Apple Watch Series 2 Space Grey
  • USB-C -> USB-A Apple Adapter
  • USB-C -> Displayport

Wife is hellbent on doing cloth diapers for our next baby, so I bought her a trial kit to try on our current 17 month old to see if she likes them enough to use and buy $400 worth of for a set.

NO plans for a baby just yet, maybe sometime later this year. :)

All she's ever carried is a Littmann, and she's a stickler for her "tools". For the work she does I never begrudge getting her something she needs/wants even if it's pricey. I might try and sneak one in for her birthday coming up soon.

Picked up a new small external drive.
Samsung T3.
The read/write is pretty good, definitely for a tiny external I can have in my pocket or go bag.
I threw in some pics of the drive and compared to the size of a normal size SSD in the smallest external enclosure I have.
The T3 is a USB-C drive. The connection to the drive itself is USB-C, the cable that comes with the drive is USB-C on one end and USB-A on the opposite end.
Also mileage may very with cables.
I thought this drive would have come with a USB-C - USB-C cable. It didn't so I used the only strictly USB-C cable I have with me which is the one that came with my retina 12" MacBook.
This one only allowed transfer at around 34MB/s....no good.
The second was just another USB-C cable I had lying around. It also only transferred at roughly 34MB/s.
Ok by now I'm thinking the drive my be the issue.
Finally I found my USB-C to USB-A adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013FGW5US/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and used the cable that came with the T3.
So USB-C into the T3, USB-A into the adapter then the USB-C end of the adapter into the new MacBook Pro.
Finally I got 300+MB/s from the drive.

So, I'm going to need to do some shopping around to find some true USB-C 3.0 actual speed capable cables.
It's crazy to me not all of them are even capable of the speeds advertised by USB-C.

I got a Sandisk extreme 900 980gb last year for a good price. Fastest you'll get I think when used on a TB3 port.

Also, apparently it's not a good idea to run this disk speed checks on an SSD. And remembered to enable Trim.

I just like Samsung SSD's really. Been using them religiously since the 830Pro.
The SSD is small, looks nice and is quick enough for what I use it for.
And I could walk into BestBuy and buy one immediately, take it back if I didn't like it.

My precious. Picked up an old S6 (International variant void of any carrier cruft). Very few phones made it the past year have wireless charging and an IR blaster :cool:.

Never heard of him. Please do tell...

Never heard of him? wow thats a first. Plastic man is a super hero from DC comics who was a criminal but one day a robbery of his got botched due to Batman and he fell in a big tub of chemicals, when he came out he became Plastic man and became good instead of being a bad criminal. he is an old school super hero from the 80's. Alot of people dont know this but Plastic man was the first "superhero with a mouth" it wasnt d'pool. he is a wise-cracking superhero with alot of humor. If you wanna compare him, he is like Mr. Fantastic or Elongated man but stronger, i think the only person that can match his powers would be MetaMorpho
