Finally a new router and internet in our Greek island holiday house in the middle of the sunny Aegean Sea :)

did you check speeds? how is the ping and speeds? do you know the manufacturer?
Greek ISP is Vodafone connected via LTE (no cables which is too slow here only 25 Mbps) - the current speed is 78 Mbps and Ping 28 ms, not the same as our 1 Gbps fiber at home in Denmark, but we have to "suffer" on this small Greek island using our old faithful 2015 MacBook :)

ah thanks... I thought its one of the newer 5G models

Might get me cancelled from the group, but I have started a small collection of older Thinkpad laptops which I used a lot during my business career. Just scored one of the most coveted, a T420. Only paid $35. As you can see in the background, Macs are still my daily driver.

I loved Thinkpads before making the switch to MacBooks about 5 years ago. I have great memories of my Thinkpads with the last one being the W510

My first laptop was a ThinkPad. I would say up until the mid-2000s they were the undisputed leader of business laptop manufacturers. The engineering and design that went into ThinkPads was second to none. Later got a Sony VAIO Z series when the ThinkPad division was sold to Lenovo, and eventually transitioned to Macs when Sony exited the PC business.

I loved the T420... as a part of IBM/IBM Global Services for over 30 years, we always used the ThinkPads, even after Big Blue sold the line to Lenovo... I switched my personal computing to Apple around 2008, but continued using the ThinkPads at work until I retired the end of 2015.

Interestingly enough, the Global Service division signed on with Apple effective the summer of 2016 to give us the option of ThinkPad or MacBook Pro, but I retired about 6 months too soon.

Not to stray too far from the primary reason for this thread. The thing that has got me interested in the old Thinkpads again is how much they parallel Mac laptops. Like MBPs, up until the early 20'teens, ie the retinas/ultrabooks, the Thinkpads were very user serviceable and mod-able by the user. And even today, Thinkpad enthusiasts are still using 10 year or older machines for their daily drivers. And being very friendly to a variety of linux distros make them a hackers dream machine similar to Macs running on BSD for those who like to venture there.

Just delivered at the front door minutes ago...

Crazy how popular this mic is for something that's been around for well over 30 years. But this isn't the only Shure mic that's considered legendary.

Did you need a cloud lifter with your interface?
I know I posted purchasing a Scarlet 2i2 not to long ago... which would require a cloud lifter. But I'm using a Elgato Wave XLR audio interface with the SM7B. The Wave XLR is equipped with 75dB of gain... so a cloud lifter isn't required. Reason why I went with the Wave XLR is because I was already using the Wave software with the Wave 3 mic... which my kid wanted for his bday... so I gave him mine.

Amazing! I love ThinkPad! OS/2 also! In the 1990s I used the ThinkPad 755CV. The back cover of the screen was removable and the unit was then placed on an overhead projector for presentations.

Art from two of my most favorite comic artists:

Matt Murdock (Daredevil) Devil’s Reign Bust by current Daredevil artist Marco Checchetto. I’ve adored Marco’s art for more than a decade now, and for me, and his work on Daredevil is his best. He is the primary reason why I still love comics, and Marco has been very kind in cheering on my fan art recreations of his work. Marco is the reason I continue to draw. Thought I would have to wait years to purchase a commission from him, but he did a series of Devil’s Reign character bust sketches earlier this year, and somehow, I landed the piece I wanted.

Also in my top comic artists space is Alex Maleev. His Moon Knight is among my favorite of the many incarnations because of how Alex captures MK’s mental duress, and too for blending Moon Knight’s hood and cape into the background. I also love how Alex blends Marc Spector’s face into his mask, and this piece is a prime example of that. Thought I would have to wait years for a Moon Knight piece from Alex too, but this fell into my lap and was quite reasonable for a piece by Maleev. I will definitely request to be on his commission list as I’d love a Daredevil by Alex, but my Moon Knight art collection is complete now that I have this.
