Yes i know new iPads are coming. But i doubt i'd be able to get a new 12.9 OLED iPad for sub-1k anyway.

Plus i'm wary of PWM dimming.

Its very good. Arguably the best bang for buck prosumer desktop Apple currently sells.

Probably what Jobs was trying to do with the G4 cube.

I'm just torn because i' haven't been a desktop guy for over a decade.

But at the same time my MBP is usually sat docked to a monitor hence why i'm contemplating.

Always desktop for me. My work MBP only gets used in meetings. Otherwise the lid is closed and it’s connected to a pair of 27” screens.

Just curious as how would your set up work going from a laptop to a desktop? I enjoy having a laptop but would get more use out of my desk if I had a dedicated desktop set up despite it making more sense for me to just have a screen to connect to if I wanted the best of both worlds. Thought about the studio and pairing it with an iPad but that's a lot of $$$ for my uses.

Until recently, my MBP was docked to my ASD 95% of the time. Hence why it only has 52 cycles after a year of ownership. Meanwhile battery capacity has dropped because the charging AI kept overcharging it.

I used to be on the go a lot until 2021. But now most of my work is done on my desk at home. Work have their own computers, so only need to bring in an iPad at best.

With the MacStudio, it's seamlessly fitted right in. Again connected to my ASD, and its been refreshing not worrying about overcharging. Haven't missed the MBP as much as i thought i would.

Saying all that, i'm like you. Still torn, because switching to a Desktop + iPad setup is pricey. Compared to just using a MBP and docking and undocking as required and would be cheaper.

I still have 10 days to test and decide
