D-town!
I've been going through a divorce (wife cheated on me) and I'm back on square one and starting over! But, this time I do everything my way, which I'm fine with. Here is my living room so far, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Add some more earth tones... lots of browns.

Here's my living room from half a year ago when I moved into my apartment. Since then, I've been putting empty cheezit boxes on the wall above the couch.

(Sorry for horrible lighting and angles; my camera is my Macbook)

I used to have the exact same tv stand as you, but with less shelves...

Damn you.. that's like my dream living room! I just want everything clean, and black and white. I have the clean part (I am very crazy about cleaning an organizing, and yes my fiancé hates me for it), but I need to get all new furniture to make it black and white!

And here are some ideas;

I think the use of the term 'minimalism', when used to describe one's choice of furniture, was first used by boring people who wanted to make it seem like their boring choice of furnishings were intentional rather than as simply a result of one's boring personality. Dress it up with a fancy, pretentious term, and you're considered 'design savvy'.

The term 'minimalism' may also be used by someone who doesn't want to tell others that they were simply "too po" to buy more than a single chair, a rug, and a 12-pack of toilet paper that serve triple-duty as tissues, napkins, and paper towels to clean up messes in the kitchen.

OP.. I LOVE it. I am a simplistic minimalist for sure... I'm a bit OCD though, I don't like how the shades of white between the chair and sofa don't match but great start! Also, I see this was posted a while back... do you have any recent pictures of the final version?

I can fell you mate. I hope you continue doing your way, and just listen to yourself. It starts with and it ends with you.

since now, it's the best set yet. Maybe because "minimalism" and a reduction to the things we need, is the goal. No pinky-stily unnecessary stuff. Black and white, nice.

But Mate. What about a TV-Set, PS3, etc. Where would you put it? Make more photos (at least 3) and show uns more. Great!

I don't revamp my living room every year. Maybe upgrade the flat screen and fresh paint each year but my general layout stays the same.

You missed half my post, clearly.
Nice..........

Sorry if that was harsh but c'mon... why lie?

EDIT: Okay after reading it over and thinking about it that was kind of rude of me but I still don't see the point... you don't even know us so why "brag"? (It's so hard for me to be mean, lol)

I don't think you need to scour the net for proof. No one brags about having a standard living room, which is exactly what that looks like to me. It's nice, but it's not "whoa" nice.

Ours is in a right state at the moment. A 46" Bravia sat ontop our old TV cabinet, 5.1 speakers anywhere that'll take em, 2 styles of sofas, Rockband instruments tossed willy nilly.

It was by the Turkish. Best view, ne?

Or maybe the Ottomans... The Turkish as such are a relatively young nation.

To the OP:

I'm sorry about your divorce and the wife cheating on you. You need some warmth and a bit of colour in that room. I find that some 'classic' modern furniture (try Barcelona chair with red leather or the Eames lounge chair with rosewood veneer, white leather) has colour options and leather or rich textile (and of course quality prints, movie posters or paintings) dress up the room nicely.

Very nice! I love the decor -- just the sort of style I like. (In fact, I have that same rug under the dining room table!) I hope you post more photos once you finish moving in... looks great so far! =)

I'm in the middle of redecorating my living room... new paint, light fixtures, flooring, etc, but I'm hoping it's close enough to done to post photos later this week!

Here is my living/tv area. I took this photos just now and it's dark so I apologize for the bad quality.

But you still get the idea. Pictures don't do justice, but yeah, who cares:p

Main goal this area services: Watching movies.

PS3 located below the TV for playing Blue ray movies as well as a iPod docking station and some other stuff. Digital Box for watching digital/HD tv. 2 rear speaker located behind the couch which you do not see.
