^ Wow that's like miserably hot. What's it like the during the middle of the summer?!
115-120 for the highs. i try to stay indoors with the a/c running as much as possible.
my parents like to tell stories of when they were young and did not have an a/c.
"we'd wet towels and hang them by the windows for cool air."
i don't even want to imagine..
I've experienced 123F degrees for much of a day, outside and no shelter. It's pretty unbelievable how that feels. The heat just beats you down.
I actually WANT to move to the desert. Not sure if I'd go as far as Yuma, though. I think that may be a bit too hot. I've always liked the idea of either NM or NV.
You guys get some pretty strong thunderstorms in the desert, right?
I used to love thunderstorms, but I moved recently to a place that has a lot of trees and I'm always paranoid that lightning will strike one.
What kinda winds do you usually see with your storms? The other night, they were calling for 70 mph winds here, but we ended up not even getting any wind. Just lightning and alotta rain.
we have a few thunderstorms a year. usually it's nothing crazy. they can shut off the power for a couple of hours if it's bad. winds can reach to maybe..30 mph. i LOVE the rain/thunderstorms. i'm one of those weirdos that like to just sit in the middle of the yard and watch the lightning.
i've lived here all of my 23 years and have only expierenced two major storms. one of them was part of a hurricane that came up from baja mexico about 10 years ago. the winds actually did get up to 60-80 mph.
the other storm was about 3 years ago and there was quite a bit of damage around the city and we had no power for about 12 hours.
Nottigham? Is that anywhere near Nottingham, perchance? The good weather has come to an end for now, we'd better wait for that 'barbeque summer' the papers claim is on the way.
Strange, I entered the first part of my post code rather than a town name . I've entered it manually now though, thanks for pointing that out.Nottigham? Is that anywhere near Nottingham, perchance?
I just love the idea of living in a place with low humidity. I love the fact that it can be 90 during the day and drop down to 40 at night. I dunno, I've just always been fascinated with the desert. The thing that troubles me the most is the potential for snakes/scorpions.
The most I've ever experienced is ~105F (~41C) and I found that very enjoyable. I love hot weather. It was very humid and I spent 3 weeks sitting in my buddies backyard, chillin to classic rock, drinkin' beer. Awesome!
Love Ontario in the Summertime.
Winter Park, Florida
that's the part i really prefer. i don't know if i could make it on the east coast with all the humidity. after some light rain the humidity is up to 50% and it's just so uncomfortable.
in yuma, there's not a need to worry about snakes and scorpions unless you live in remote areas.
the phoenix area is different, i've heard some horror stories about scorpions. i was staying with some friends for a few months and came across one. called up an exterminator right away lol
if you move to the desert..make sure to give your shoes a quick shake before putting them on.
