Maybe a stupid question, but what the heck is your Xbox/Wii connected to? There is no screen or television anywhere in sight?

Don't forget that 27" iMac could be used as a display for the mini. :p

It's not a bad idea. As you said, it could be used as the display with the mini running as a headless file and media server. You could keep the mini on 24/7 downloading and serving up media to other devices and then just used the iMac display as it's display (no to mention it could be a great development server). You could create an adhoc network with firewire (I haven't tested this but I have to think real world FW800 networking is faster than GigE and I assume you can still do this with SL, I have tried it in years). That way you put all the wear and tear on the mac mini.

Not a bad idea, I might have to consider that.

Wouldn't THAT be disproportionate! LOL
$500 on the computer and $2,000 on a "display" hahaha :p

"This 24" LED Cinema Display is just too small."
"But the 30" Cinema Display is just way too big!"
"The 27" is Juuuust right."

Not if using a huge amount of them in Xgrid :p

Myself, I set up about 800 of the '09 minis to run my mail client

hmm.

800 Mini's @ $599US = $479200
[2 HDD each; 1600 HDDs total]

533 XServes to get 1600HDD = $1'331'967 (insane)

BUT

100 XServes ($299900) + $179300 (remaining) to get you the remaining 1300HDD with better bandwidth throughput should be enough n'est pas?

Where are all the pictures? You guys talk too much. :D

OK, here's a pic of MY Mac setup!

IMG_0084.jpg

My eMac computer, with an older Apple Pro Keyboard and a Microsoft wireless mouse. Not much has changed since I first got it in terms of physical setup, though I replaced the CD-ROM drive inside it with a SuperDrive (complete with LightScribe!)

But the iMac is more powerful than the mini, it doesn't make sense.

The is correct, but the mini is a second computer that could serve up media, process download, render, convert, whatever you want without interfering with anything you are doing on the iMac.
