Here is my set up. Bought my iMac on the 16th of October and the Swans M10 arrived this past Monday. I love it.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Are the Swan speakers really THAT good? I am thinking about getting them for my setup. I have the logitechs now, and I like them a lot, and I am really into music. If these are going to be a big upgrade to the logitechs, I am going to order them. And does anyone have a link to where I can purchase them?

They're decent for the price. Certainly better than any of the crap Bose puts out in that price range. I have no idea if they'll be better than your logitechs because I don't know what kind of logitechs you have!

where did you get the stand thats under your desk....and what model

The "stand" is a cabinet I bought from Ikea. It's from the Besta line and was fortunately a display in the the "As-is/Clearance" section. I bought the cabinet this past Tuesday along with the four legs ($5). Good deal since I was looking for a replacement for my plastic drawers I had under my desk before.

How do you like your M-Audio's? I was thinking of getting them at first.

I love them, They sound very crisp when given a good source. They are very good at letting you know how crappy some sources are. Some youtube videos you can hear things you never heard before, sometimes that's not a good thing. But then again, they are not meant for listening to youtube videos so thats not fair to say of them.

Hi

Sorry to be a numpty, but how do you connect these speakers? Do you just have a 3.5mm to phono lead or do you have to use a pre amp.

They connect just like all other PC speakers. I also went from Logitech Z-2300's to Studiophile AV-40's and the M-Audio's sound so much better to me. :)

Correct, they connect via 3.5mm jack or they can be connected to a pre-amp. Look at this picture for all connections in the rear.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it if you're buying the 24" Apple display. It's ridiculously expensive. Personally, I'd go with a Desktop + Laptop combo. It will usually cost less, and you get two computers instead of one. If I were you I would keep the iMac, and get a netbook or a used MB/MBP. It would cost only as much as, if not less than, a 24" Display, and you get to keep your current desktop computer, which is probably more powerful than any laptop you would consider buying.

Yes, but your set up with two computers would require syncing and juggling files.

Whereas a MBP with ACD offers desktop performance and mobility all in ONE machine. That in itself is attractive.
