I just re-assigned my furniture. Not everything's set right now. And I definitely have to get some new 'scarfs' from IKEA - these from my mother look quite feminine. :D

Although I love my iMac, I am strongly saving money for a MacBook. Would be great to sit on the bed with my girlfriend while doing some stuff for the university.

Greetings from Osnabruck,

Daniel

Is that tv hooked up to your Mac and what size is it? I'm debating on getting a 27" or 32".

Actually i was thinking of hooking it up to the mac, but as off now its not. Its hooked up to my ps3 and dvb tvbox. My tv is 32" and my monitor is 24".
Im still debating if i should hook it up because tv resolution is not to compare with a pc monitor, but for movie watching over dlna its cool!

The ps3 3d display is actually pretty good, I got it for 299 at best buy around Xmas. Its on the right. My 2009 quad core 2.66ghz i5 is still running fine. It has 12g ram so i guess it will last me another year or so. On the left is Samsung sync master ex2220, its alright. Anyways, this set up get the job done and a little cod doesn't hurt.

Whats the theme on your PS3 called?

looks great.

How did you make the custom keyboard holder? I'm assuming its a melamine board for the tray. Is the galant desk dense enough for you to screw the "drops" for the keyboard?

Hi yea the desk holds it like a champ. the only issue I ran into was that the metal structure came in the way so I had to improvise but other than that the rails attach firmly to the desk and it feels real sturdy. It is a melamine board from home depot.

Need your recommendations

I've been looking find a minimalist desk for my future setup and I can seem to find something to my liking.

I decided to give SketchUp a try so I could give others an idea of what I am looking for. I do not intend building this desk as I have minimal carpentry experience.

First picture

The desk is 77cm x 150 cm by 80 cm. Drawers are (HxWxD) 25cm x 50cm x 50cm
Three drawers for supplies extra cables and my windows keyboard. I'd like the drawers to slow down in speed when the are shut quickly. I know some ikea products have this.
integrated Pen holder (Not necessary but nice to have)

second picture
Offers a profile view.

third picture
I added a cable management unit inside the desk where I will store my synology NAS, Power bar and HDD docking station.

The compartment, is (HxWxD) 25cm x 80cm x 30cm

The whole back panel of the compartment has slots to let the heat out. The handle will be seamless. I can also feed the cables from my imac directly to the cable management unit. The cable from the power bar can be run down either of the back legs of the desk.

Equipement
  • 2012 27" iMac (to be purchased)
  • Audio Engine A2 (to be purchased)
  • Apple wireless keyboard
  • Apple Magic Trackpad
  • APC SurgeArrest P11VT3
  • Synology DS411
  • Bluetooth mouse

This is a rough idea of my ideal desk. Does anyone know of something similar? The micke desk is not deep enough for me.

I noticed that it is probably impossible to have the drawers 25cm high as I wouldn't have enough leg room.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Well I'm trying to work on one room at a time in the new house but I keep getting antsy and flip flopping rooms. Just got the new LED TV in for the spare bedroom/second office.

PLEASE EXCUSE THE MESS!!! I'm still trying to figure out a layout.

First of all I need a larger desk, was debating these 2 which are both over 55" long versus the 39" desk i have now.

Option 1:

Option 2:

You should defiantly go with option two i love that desk my brother has the same one it is really sturdy and affordable.

Just posted over in the new purchases. As it's a mac (my first), I thought I would post it here too.

Late 2011 Macbook Pro 15" with the high res screen.

This thing is awesome and goes everywhere with me but this is my home set up in my bedroom.

The first thing that popped in my mind would be a "sofa table desk", i'm not sure if they will provide the depth you are looking for though:

Apologies for the bad picture quality, just used an iPhone and lighting here is really bad, lol.

MacBook Pro Early 2011 i5 4GB RAM 320GB 13"
Philips 106E Monitor
Sennheiser HD428 plugged to a FiiO E6 (not bad headphones for less than $100)
1TB External Seagate (originally my backup drive, but my portable external hard drvie broke down...)

That's a awesome setup

Thank you! :)

Dont really understand a point.
Why iMac but not something portable like MBP or you know... I'm pretty sure that you're not using that iMac screen.

I know, and im thinking of selling the imac and getting a new Mac Mini.

is that a 24 in iMac ?? if not how did you get the displays to line up .. cuz i know the atd are shorter than the 27 iMac

If you look closely, it looks like the iMac is sitting on top of something.

It looks like one of those cases that holds an Air to save desk space.

Aye, it a Mtable i used with for my old setup Cinema display and 17 mbp.
