I've been inspired to clean up and rearrange my desk tonight. I'll post before and after. *work in progress*

Looking to get a stand for my Macbook.

I will move to Madrid, Spain in a few days for study purposes (duration: 6 months). So, I have all my elektronics I do not need / can't get there locked away in a different place. I will rent my house during the 6 months to others. Everything stays (as in furniture). This is the current 'mobile' setup I will also have in Spain.

- rMBP
- iPad 3rd gen 32GB 4G
- iPhone 4S (pictures taken with)
- Trackpad

Very minimalistic but the way it will be in Spain. No TBD whatsoever. Fine by me.

Sad to leave my black macbook and other iMac behind, but oh well.

I already sold a few other MacBooks I had laying around. .

I love laptop only setups like this. Although, I don't have one of my own...

Why do you have a separate trackpad? Is there a specific reason why the one on the MacBook is not good enough? I've heard lots of people like having their mouse/trackpad off to the side rather than right underneath the keyboard.

I don't have a present shot, but it was a gaming rig running windows.

I finally got myself a new setup for my design work, and I'd like to share a picture of my setup. I should also note, that this is my first time using the Mac OS and so far I'm loving it. More specifically speaking I love the integration between the hardware and software along with the unity of the apps matching the OS.

I'm deciding between the Apple Cinema Display & Dell u2711. So hopefully I'll have another post in this thread soon.

I used the separate Magic Trackpad and Apple wireless keyboard when I hooked the rMBP up to the Thunderbolt Display. Since everything is stored away, I figured I'd only use the magic trackpad as it really indeed is nicer to use a larger separate trackpad on the side.

In about 6 months or so, I will be back to having the TBD + rMBP setup though. It's just stored away safely for the time being.

Wait, the paint fades over time? That's crazy.. Thanks for the Galant recommendation. I did check those out at Ikea and they look nice and sturdy.;)

Yeah it sucks :( I had the older Micael desk which they discontinued last year to be replaced with the almost identical (but more expensive) Micke range.

I'd only had the Micael for about a year and a half and the top layer of paint was completely worn away where my arms sat next to the keyboard/mouse. It got to the point where I could rub the surface with my thumb, and it would pull a bunch of the paintwork off.

It's a shame as the Vicke and Micke range are really nice looking desks and are a great price. If you're happy to go with the white one, or arent too worried about it faiding, go for it!

If you do decide to go for the Galant, you'll love it! Had mine just over a year now and it's as good as they day I bought it (even after accidentally nocking over an entire mug of coffee earlier this year!).

That's terrible! Yea, I don't know how white would look in my room, but I did look at the Galant desk as well as a dining table (yea, I know) from Ikea. Specifically the Ingo dining table. I like the fact that it is made out of pine wood. Plus, it was sturdy.

Anywho, I'm glad to hear you are a happy owner of a Galant desk, even after the spilled coffee. :)

I have a Galant desk as well, with the T-legs. Great desk, still doing very well after 3 years of extensive use!

I highly recommend either the refurbished thunderbolt or cinema display depending on what ports you. I bought my cinema display from the Apple refurbished store for $829 + tax to connect to my 2010 Macbook Air. Now it's working perfectly with the thunderbolt port on my Macbook Pro.

Here's the latest setup for my new workshop/photography/office. It took me a good 3 hours to including the assembly of Ikea Expedit Desk/Bookshelf and organizing and hiding the wires.

Two mice and a trackpad? That brings productivity to a whole new level.

My desk before.

I've enquired about a 23" Apple Cinema HD on Craigslist. If I get that, it will be replacing the Dell monitor shown. It will also come with a Wireless keyboard, mouse, and mStand.

I hope the person responds and is not a spammer. My last three emails were returned by spammers. :|
