I'm not trying to start a fight here, but I see this all the time & would really like to know why?

This isn't the time nor the place, but I'm pretty sure that poster is a bit misguided. It's just going to clog this thread with more useless banter. :)

On Macs you can just sit down and being the workflow right away. You get to interact creatively from the first moment. There is no setting up, downloading, installing, configuring, restarting, jumping through menus, clicking a million things... you just start working right away. And everything is simple, clean, and easy to use. Some people say, "Macs are idiot-proof." Well doesn't matter, when I want to do something, I want it to be idiot proof, so I don't have to lose focus of the creative side. But if I want more control over it, I can always have it.

I know how PCs are... my multimedia workflow was based on PCs. And I never want to go back.

Oh and here's to save the thread. An old picture when I started experimenting with Macs:

Not wanting to come across as a Mac-basher & to stick with the subject of the thread, a shot from the lab;

I only had to read the first paragraph of that to know the article is utter rubbish;

"viruses, spam, crashes and constant need for support, reboots, upgrades, defrags and maintenance without which Windows simply stops working after a few weeks."

Seldom have I heard such a pathetic & incorrect argument except from the mouth of a 13-year-old. The author obviously occupies a hideously biased viewpoint & is completely unqualified to author such an article & expect to be taken seriously.

I know that back in the day there was certain software that made Mac OS the obvious choice for photographers, namely Photoshop, but today when all of the Adobe Creative Suite is available for both Mac OS & Windows (in fact that's not entirely true, as 64-bit Photoshop CS4 is still only available for Windows) & the underlying hardware is identical, it seems foolish to try & argue one platform over the other.

The underlying hardware is identical, but the underlying operating system is not. It's a huge difference for some photographers.

BTW, there is software such as Aperture that is only available on the mac.

There is a reason why 90% of the professionals in the creative industry use Mac.

Just like when you went on a tirade about ACD, only to be proved wrong, you're getting on your high horse about something you clearly don't have a sound understanding of. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, especially in your case.

Not you're average every day spiderman. Or in my case, macbook. Apologies of the bad quality, pink desk(other one broke, this was all we had.)

p.s doesn't everyone play tetris on dot matrix gameboys?

Good to see its still working, what happened to it?

You still have a original gameboy!:D

I've been out-glamoured!
Yes, yes you have.

Well, I bought it off a guy I know for $100, because he was stupid enough to think it doesn't work.

It all happened when he left the screen up on his bed, the cat thought it was a threat, so it pounced, knocked it right back off the hinges and cracked the screen, He removed the screen and sold it to me, YAY.

And yes, yes I do. Game Boys are the new mac, once you have tetris, and donkey kong land, your awesome.

Then tell me what it is, that was my original question.

I don't remember being 'proved wrong' in my arguments that ACDs are indeed very good quality but that the average user does not need (or even notice) the diference between their S-IPS panels & a TN panel for a quarter of the price & are therefore wasting their money in the name of ignorance & style conciousness by buying an ACD.

Come on ladies, this is a nice thread, please don't argue. Or at least take it somewhere else so we can talk more about out setups.

Wow, that would be one DEAD cat.

I have been browsing these Mac Setups for ages and I guessed as my setup's about to change considerably (i.e. when I get a desktop), I should post a picture of it now. Also, thanks to inspiration from maxb, I went out this morning, bought myself a couple of towel rails and well, the results are below :)

if thats a ikea desk be careful that its not hollow - those rails will just pop out one day - Give them a good tug to make sure -

Messy cable management - I love how everyones macs all hide the shameful cable shameyness!

So true :p

I just got a new desk and have mounted my power strip on the back of the desk... Trying to make my setup more organized and keep my power cables and stuff off the ground.

Yeah, it is an Ikea desk and yeah it's hollow (i bought 3 to make a corner desk and cut one in half for the corner), but it's only a temporary measure until I find a nice desk - nice desks are so hard to find in the UK - maybe I should post in the buying advice forum :)

The rails are pretty sturdy and the laptop's not in the for long but thanks for the advice, I'll be careful :)
