hp made this design way before apple made their displays with the black bezel yes yes.

and i love it! its great, really good quality too. and its has a 3000:1 ratio and the new apple 24" display has 1000:1, nothing special.. only led backlit.

the 3000:1 contrast ratio is usually achieved through dark magic and steam power though. ;)
I have a Samsung 226BW which also claims a 3000:1 contrast ratio, but that requires you to enable its proprietary modes and other settings that make it rubbish.

I am planning on buying that monitor for my Macbook,
what do you think of it?

I have the 23 inch.

Simply put ... AMAZING.

The ACD is a complete ripoff to you after you buy a glossy HP display. They're impressive and affordable, yet still has that 'wow' factor.

My setup, first upload.

After almost 9 years of using and toying around with a reliable Quicksilver Mac, I finally upgraded to a new Mac Pro Nehalem 2009. Hope you like my setup!

Do the HP's have a TN panel in them? I miss my old LG glossy display, but the IPS panel in my Dell monitor I have now is FTW.

This is my office computer that I design everything from graphics, video, animation Iphone apps and master music on. I got her decently stacked; dual 8800 gt video cards, 32 g RAM, and 4 TB inside, with an additional 8 TB G-raided. She's also supported on the go by my 3g IPhone, and at home with MacBook Pro, New Mac mini and 20" IMac (Alum).

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. After years of recommending alternate brand monitors, I finally bought into the Cinema displays and I've been extremely happy. Call me shallow, but nothing looks nearly as good sitting on your desk. Apple makes good looking hardware, and it definitely counts for something - if you're happy to see your computer when you sit down, maybe you're in a better mood and likely to do better work. As a photographer and a person with a good eye for color, I can't use a glossy display... its too easy to see how ridiculously far off it is even when completely calibrated.

I was the same way, until I got a job where a 23" cinema display was provided. After working with it for a few days, you really realize just how good it is, and what you've been missing out on. Sure for internet browsing your average glossy TN panel will do, but for a professional, Apple Displays are NOT a ripoff.
