Post Your Mac Setup: Past & Present!

Here is my current setup:

My MacBook 2.0 ghz 1 gb with 250gb MyBook

My iMac 1.25 ghz 1 gb Superdrive 17"

There's the up-to-date setup (it changes all the time). I was thinking of selling the iMac and just going all portable...but I don't know.

Came from the Carphone Warehouse. Bargin it was. Brand new for £159. Supposed to be £229. Can't beat a bit of haggling. But I love it, ace. Had a old Motorola flip and I said I would never buy another, but i have, and I love it...

Mac Pro pictures

Hi there,

When I was waiting for my Mac Pro to arrive I loved to see unboxing pictures to make the wait more bearable. So I decided to give the ones still waiting a chance to see more of those.

This is the standard 2.66 version of Mac Pro so this ain't nothing you guys haven't seen before... but it took it's time to arrive to my country. Now I'm just waiting for the X 1900 XT and the ram to arrive here too (the Apple store here didn't get any extra ram) because I ordered 4gb instead of 1gb.

So here you go... The pics:

And opened up. The hard drive is a WD Caviar SE but I put in a Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 which seems to be much quieter.

Here is the temporary graphics card

And the ram risers with the way to little 1gb

And a fan.


I Hope this calms the ones waiting down a bit.

Those are the slots into which the end of full length PCIe cards slot. The number matches to PCIe slots (see the graphics card picture).

The gap between 1 and 2 is wider because slot one is able to accomodate double width cards.

Note - the cards slot in between the "bays" - just thought I'd clarify that point.

Just another of those little things that show the attention to detail that went into the Mac Pro

Hmm, I think I would put some kind of cap over the RAM risers... If I worked for Apple design.

Yeah, it definitely is. Most people wouldn't ever use more than 20-30% of the cpu

I wouldn't. yeah... it doesn't look as cool but its nice to have the really easy access to the ram.

So.. love looking at this thread, but only now took photos of my set-up. Actually, my and my fiance's (who's a PC guy.. booo).

The desk we made and installed ourselves (that was fun.. ). We still have to actually decorate, but it's coming together!

you can defintely tell who's the more clean (he'll say anal) one of the group..

Okay, I'll clarify my statement.

It's official! All animals love Macs better than PCs! Except SuSE Linux. The lizards are really big on that. Wonder if anything has to do with that?

Cough... SuSE's logo is a lizard, Cough...
