Got my new iMac a couple nights ago; these are from my first iWeb-published album.

The new iMacs really do look much better than the previous ones, that picture highlights the differences...

What background image is that?

Yeah, I still think the white iMacs are quite classy but once I got them setup side by side I decided the new iMac is definitely sexier. The background image is from InterfaceLift. You can't quite see a big difference in the pictures here, but the new iMac's screen is substantially richer and brighter than the old iMac (which I already thought was a fantastic screen).

I see that you have a laptop and a desktop. What would you recommend to do buy a cinema display or a iMac if you did have a MBP?

It depends on what you typically do. I have always wanted to have two computers on hand because I love the mobility of laptops but also prefer the larger multi-screen capability of desktops, and I like to have a backup computer in case one goes down. I always say, though, that if I could only have one computer it would definitely be a laptop + large external display. If you're trying to choose between an iMac and a monitor for your MBP, that's a substantial price difference (unless you're talking about the 30"). Some people don't like the hassle of keeping things synchronized on two different computers, so that's something to consider too. I use a central file server to handle all that.

Rather than have a display connected to a laptop, I would much much more rather have a laptop and a desktop.

Even with a laptop running in clamshell, it's a FAR far far FAR nicer experience to be running a machine on your desk, even while you're out. I use SimplifyMedia, Azureus and some other 'open all the time' apps constantly in use. As soon as I unplug my laptop, these become useless as they all depend on external hard drives. However, I want to go outside during the kind of weather we're having at the moment and use the net out there, rather than sit indoors melting and turning pasty-white.

iMac + MacBook/Pro > MacBook Pro + ACD + Keyboard

That's a good enough reason. My laptop is desk-locked until I get an MP to replace it. Then, once again, the MBP will be mobile, as it should be.

Amen. Im starting to realise this. Unplugging/plugging just doesnt cut it. Best setup would be an iMac/MacBook combo.

Same day update. My wife is so enamored with the new machine, that she was on board with doing up the workspace :D. I'll leave the viewing audience to note the differences. The wine glass doesn't count... :p
:apple: for president.

Its not a porn acquisition machine, its a porn CREATION machine.

Obviously porn addicts demand only the highest quality videos and images, so of course he'd have to have top of the line equipment to deliver.:D
