GOD, that thing is SEXY!

Best looking Mac EVER, IMO. Can't wait 'til mine comes in!!!

Is yours the 20-inch or 24-inch, BTW?

20" but i can't help but think what if i went 24". Thing is the 24 would take up the whole desk....dunno

I got a new keyboard today. It's an older hacker style mechanical switch clicky model and I love it. It's a Cherry ML4100 industrial keyboard. Got it off Ebay on the cheep.

Looks nice by the window.

I have a growing addiction to old school keyboards. They are so much better than the crap they make today, and they don't have Windows keys or multimedia bells and whistles. I think they type better to.

Anyway, here is growing collection. Mind you, this started for me in the spring.

I like that cherry keyboard - are there any stores other than ebay that sell them
??

It's a nice keyboard. I was thinking about buying the Happy Hacking Pro 2, but now that I have this one, I don't think I'm going to buy one.

Just search Ebay for Cherry mini keyboard. You want to get one w/o a Windows key because they are older and have better switches.

And if you do, here is how I mapped my keys:

You'll loose your caps lock, but the control key is in the right spot.

Oooh I'm pretty sure we used that keyboard on the paint mixer at Homebase (Like a hardware store). Mixing paint and having trolley races, paint fights and generally messing about with the other teenagers that didnt know a thing about DIY was the best :)

We must've looked like a bunch of idiots...

it is belgian not french.....

phewww! I am glad we got that cleared up, if it were french I would have to ask you to pack your bags brother....round these parts alls we drink is freedom beer™

Here's my new Blackbook, finally all set up. Sadly, I'm going to have to pack it up in a days time to leave for college.

As for it looking dark, it's currently running Graphite mostly, and I've dimmed the screen brightness to save on battery life when it's running on battery. Looks pretty cool, too. Also, a closer up image of the new Apple keyboard:

I do all my coding on my laptop, which was fine when I had a ThinkPad T20 (awesome keyboards) but now I have a MacBook I've been looking for a good keyboard. I've got an old buckling spring board (Nan Tan Computer Co) but I just did some searches on the HHK & it looks perfect for what I want because I don't really want a full-width board. Could you briefly explain the difference between the HHK, HHK Pro & HHK Lite (2)? Because there seems to be a huge price difference between the different models?

I recommend picking one up. I got mine off Ebay, but Cherry sells new ones for $60 - a lot more than I paid. I am a believer in Cherry keyboards now.

Maybe, though I don't really have any need for a keyboard right now. Though I think I will get one of those next time I buy one.

The HHK Pro 2 is the better of the bunch. It has mechanical clicky switches with a spring, but it is not the buckling spring like the Model M. HHK Lite uses "high quality" rubber domes to bounce the key back up. These kind of mechanisms tend to feel a bit spongy.

They are both supposed to be great to type on. The cosmetic differences between them are the Pro is a little smaller, and it missing the arrow keys. A coder wouldn't really miss them at all, though. Plus the Pro is the one that can ship with blank keys caps.

Both of them have the control key where the caps lock usually is.

If you are going to buy the Lite, check out GeekStuff4U, they have the Mac version complete with Apple keys. It's not a knock-off either.

I'll most likely buy a Pro 2 anyway.

:D I always love it when I see people using Fliquo as their screen saver. I think its just the coolest thing ever. I've been using it for six months or so now.

By the way, whats the story with the light? Just had a spare powerbook/mbp lid lying around and put a light behind it?

Someone I know bought a PB from craigslist but the LCD was broken. Another person on craigslist was selling an LCD with lid for $80. Can't go wrong there! I ganked the lid and made a light because I felt like it was high time to be a dork!
I don't really turn it on much, it does however make for great "mood" lighting if you get my drift. And if you don't then I'm sorry. ;)
