My school just got 12 new dual 2.7ghz G5s with 23" displays, 4 GBs of ram each, 400 GBs of HD each, and, as if the 250GB in each wasnt enough, a 4TB SAN and an XServe to tie it all together and distribute tasks when some aren't in use. They call it the Digital Aquarium and it kicks ass.

I forgot:
And they have every expensive piece of software you could want. CS2 Macromedia 8, Apple's pro video and audio stuff. And of course the full recording studio booth, Powershot g5 cameras, really nice (can't remember) DV cams, tripods, booms, mics, oh and DV video deck and monitor for each computer.

Sadly they had to get some dells for the 3D modelling people who demanded them, but they hid them in the back.

Right where the dirty Dells deserve to be :p

What type of school is this? Art design, industrial design, audio/video pre stuff? Just curious what warrants all that awesome stuff....my school would never go for that, damn engineers

You'll never believe this but actually it's Georgia State University. Yes, a state school that's not specializing in arts or anything. Cool huh? I think they can afford it because the Digital Aquarium is for the whole school, all 28,000 of us. Luckily, it's tucked away in the back of the top floor of the student center so barely anyone knows about it. :D

btw, I'm there for a BFA in Graphic Design

My father graduated from GSU, and I currently live in Atlanta :D I was just down there for my younger sister's, who now goes to UGA, high school graduation. My father thinks that the school has really gone to the &*$%s since he was there, so I would have never expected them to have such nice gear :p Cool to know that I have some fellow Macrumor-ers in my area :)

Well parts of the school are a little dogdey, but since it is built (or retrofitted into older buildings) on any land the government can pry away from local businesses. For example, Kell Hall is built in what used to be a 60 year old parking structure, so the floor is all lumpy, theres big wide ramps instead of stairs, and the connections to the adjoining GSU buildings are all missaligned because the building is leaning now. Meanwhile, the rec center is one of the best in the country, the film school has better and more up to date technology than any school in the south east, and we have the best housing in the state. To me, yes the schools gone downhill in appearance and, err, structural integrity, but we also have the best of the best in other areas.

Oh and keep an eye on your sister. Athens is definately a drinking,-smoking-and–doing-very–stupid-things town.

I know this happened along time ago, but...... iGary, you should get an apple keyboard at least for the dell....i mean comon, i know you hate it being there, so why make it stand out? you should have kept one 20incher and replaced it with the 20inch dell....just my 2cents. :D :D

It just goes to show, i am not a "noobie" like it says to the left, i remember igary's g4 setup......been here for a while, just sorta forgot i was registered....

Okay, finally got my 2005FPW set up, and found a convenient place for my Powerbook... now if I could only get my Cube and it to sync up better, I'd be in business!

Anyways, new setup photo:

Nice bobble-head jesus on that sub.
I hope those speakers and sub are shielded otherwise you'll get quite the nice colors spread across your screen during Baby Got Back ;)

The speakers seem like they're not shielded at all. Whenever I put my cell phone on my desk, they'll randomly start humming and beeping loudly. This especially happens right before my cell phone rings. And people always wonder how I answer so fast...

"almost"? What more could anyone possibly want? Damn that's a nice setup...

With over 750GB of Harddrive space, I don't think that the mini is enough for this person. They need an October 19 Dual Dual Core PowerMac with a couple of GBs of RAM to cut through all of that data in no time flat.

Represent the eMac!

How much were those speakers and what's the sound quality like?

They were $125 plus $20 shipping from Amazon. The sound quality is amazing. I read a whole lot b4 buying, these were defnitely thhe best choice.

I've been listenin' to them non-stop (seriously). They aren't exactly stylish, but I'll take quality over style any day. Here's the thread I made b4 makin my purchase, if you're lookin into speakers.

I like how the volume control for the speaker go right in that little space, under the monitor :) . It's like the perfect place.

Is that Alba I see?
