HIGHER RES PHOTOS
Here's mine in my new space. I'm so happy to have more space on my desk. :) Not the best desk in the world, but since the guy that was to make my custom desk lagged I had to do something. Not bad for the price.

Yes, very much so. I runs at full throttle or so it seems.

And that is no good news. I thought about the same setup. Maybe I go with a Mini+iBook instead.

Does anyone else expierence this? Running fan is a no-go for me. I need a silent system for audio recording.

Cant wait to get an LCD. I NEED deskspace!

Yeah it does CmdrLaForge. I tried my setup tonight without anything else on in the room and the fan has kicked in and been buzzing away. It isn't that loud compared to my old Tibook but there nonetheless. Any other ambient noise in the room and you can't hear it though - but that's no good for audio work at all. Funny thing is the new powerbooks don't seem to get that hot either - it's just that the sofware kicks the fan in when the DVI is connected.

Is the mini any different as far as when the fans kick in though?

Thanks for your feedback. I have no idea about the mini but hope it is quite.

Maybe I still go with the powerbook and just un-plug it while recording.

Cheers

The Mac mini is about a silent as you can get with the current line up ... you could always look for a cube; no fan. :) The only problem with audio recording should be the lack of FW ports; for multi-tracking i would strongly suggest an external FW drive.

I include the picture of my PowerBook setup, aswell as a night shot of my PowerBook and mouse. Sorry about the quality, unfortunately I was restricted to a camera phone in bad lighting! Hope you like.

Funky mouse pad ... what does it do? Assignable buttons, macros and stuff? For a minute i thought it was an audio controller then i realized that was your mouse sitting on it. :D

My PB with the monitor?
I think, perhaps, he was refering to the many, many pictures of two certain people posted all over the wall area of your setup.

Hmm, some day I need to clean up a bit and take a shot of my setup. I may just wait until I move in week+ though.
