A good way to fix missing feet is to put a small dot of hot glue where the foot was. Then once it's cooled a bit, flip it back over and squish it to make it flat and level.

One thing I did to fix the two missing feet on my PowerBook was a dab of silicon. It dried overnight, but it still did take like 48 hours to fully cure, but it makes a great alternative! I only did this because my hot glue gun broke! :D

Also, you could use Sugru (I haven't tried yet, I'm waiting for another opportunity to open up a packet.)

Here are updated photos with the LED strip lighting. I saw some on eBay that change colors/color patterns with a little remote. That would be cool for the other Macs I will move into this room. It's a Mac party in here!

How many of these can you plug in at one time before tripping the breaker? I've got a few pallets of these and eMacs.

I am not sure anyone will top yours except maybe an Apple Museum.

Haha, not so. There is this insane kid I know of who has like 180 Macs. Among them he has very rare production Macs as well as prototypes. He has that multicolored PowerBook prototype. He has two Apple IIIs, two Lisas (IDK whether I or XL, maybe XL), a TAM, etc. There are also plenty of people who, unlike myself, have a TAM or a Lisa, or something of that sort. However, I see what you mean. Not many people have this many Macs, and I guess I am up there. Another kid has a more-impressive 80s Mac collection than I. A 128k, 512k, 512ke (was $40 mint in the box), Mac Plus 1MB, Mac Classic, Mac Color Classic, two SE/30s, Quadra 700, Apple IIe (not a Mac, but you know...) That kid was lucky to get them so cheap... Anyway, I have had my share of lucky finds too. All of my portable 80s computer were free. I ended up making the first ever Osborne Vixen computer video on the whole of YouTube, and then another Vixen owner made two more. I will just say that there are tons of amazing collectors out there. The guy I know about who has the rarest stuff (alker33 on YouTube) has 12 Lisas and.... a genuine Apple I computer. No kidding. IDK how much he got it for, but he purchased it in 1993. I am sure it wasn't SUPER special back then.

I actually don't think I have ever had more than one running at a time. These iMacs have been in various places since I've owned them. I would have one on an play with it, etc., but never all the iMacs at once. I don't know how many you can plug in at once to do more damage than just to one's wallet, but I am sure a pallet of eMacs could either cut it really close or do it. eMacs use more power too.

And I thought I was special with my Commodore 64 SX Executive...

And I thought I was special with my Commodore 64 SX Executive...

Apart from some kid with five iPods, most computer collections aren't necessarily better than others. Some can be way more impressive, and yes, some can be better. However, many collections are different in their ways. There are many things I don't have that others have, but there are things in my collection that I have and very few people have. It just boils down to that. I happen to have a Commodore SX 64 too :) The keyboard is failing, with only a fraction of the keys functioning, but it's in good condition otherwise. My uncle knows this lady who divorced her husband, but the husband left some of his stuff... and by that, I mean he left his entire computer collection. What makes me really sad is that apparently they had tons of old computers stored away, and most of them got torn apart by the notorious pack rats of Arizona. I guess six of them survived and she gave them to my uncle to give to me. (along with an ol', working HP Laserjet 5). I was really fortunate, but I was sad at the same time that many pieces of history were completely destroyed by some insignificant rats. I found an Apple III Utilities floppy in the storage compartment of my Osborne Executive... that leads me to believe that maybe an Apple III was among the many computers to be destroyed. So yeah, that's how I got lucky with those computers. I guess everyone gets lucky at some point in their collections.

I am not a collector but I got the Commodore from a computer shop that was throwing it away along with an IBM ThinkPad G40. A huge laptop that was.

Wow... I can't believe they were gonna throw that out! I kind of want a Thinkpad, although a newer one that's still pretty usable. They are cool laptops and famous for a reason.

I have a T60 now. The G40 was sold off for $120 a few years ago. I got my use out of it and the person needed a good machine to use with Audacity for basic audio recording. I kind of want a wide screen ThinkPad but the regular one is fine. I was looking at buying a T400 at my local TigerDirect store.

Cool. Full screen for a small laptop screen is a little annoying, but I actually prefer full screens over wide screens when it comes to an external monitor or one in an all-in-one. I like evenly-distributed space, rather than tons of horizontal space and limited vertical space.

That is a good point. I do like the Retina wide screen displays on the new MacBook Pros.

The Retina Pro screen is amazing. We have three Retina Pros that are sitting unused... don't ask. I feel like using one will ruin all other displays for me xD. I know a guy who uses amazing displays, and all others now look like cr@p to him and give him headaches. It's not worth-it.

Well since you said don't ask. I will ask...

Well, if you're not using them, please feel free to send me one of them. As a poor, starving teacher, I could put one of them to good use. :D

The current setup - Power Mac G5 and Studio Display. Freshly Rebuilt. :D

2x 2.0GHz PowerPC 970FXs, 5GB DDR400 RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce FX 5200 Ultra.

Very nice. I recently got my hands on a similar Power Mac G5 2x 2.0GHz. I wonder if I can get it to look as pristine.

Do you happen to have any recommendations for cleaning up the aluminum case? It has no scratches, but does have a few splotches that look like perhaps spilled milk. I don't want to risk spoiling the surface but would like to get it clean. Is a soft cloth lightly dampened with water really all there is to it?

I'm going backwards through this thread and my find an answer, or will search online, but if you (or anyone) has a ready answer I will appreciate the help.

Haha. Nah, they aren't mine. They are my dad's. These are the ones currently unused by employees. It's a shame though... hopefully they will get use soon.

Well since you said don't ask. I will ask...

My dad has several which are loaned to employees of his for development. Three of them are no-longer being used by employees and have no current use. I kinda wanted to use one since my newest Mac is a 2005 iMac G5, since my brother has been using my 2009 MBP lately, but he says they are for development only. It sucks though; they are sitting there without use... I advised him not to stack them on top of each other, but he insists on doing so. Anyway, they are nice computers but run a little leaf-blower like. I guess that's understandable. They boot up in 8-10 seconds flat (8 seconds probably with 16GB RAM). In fact, these things boot faster than our TV... No joke, and our TV takes like 12 seconds to come up with a picture. It's frustrating how TVs today are more like systems of their own. I miss when you could press the physical button, not a touch sensitive thing, on a CRT TV and have the thing turn on right away, and with NO channel-switching lag.

Sadly, PowerPC Macs are quickly losing support.
- No modern web browsers.
- Websites hog so much RAM anyway with HTML5 junk that PPC Macs can't keep up.
- AssaultCube, one of the best games for PPC, is now Intel-only after a minor update for some reason.
- Flash Player hates PPC Macs, and PPC Macs hate Flash Player.

It's weird that there are almost no PPC PCs out there, yet all of Nintendo's game consoles and the Xbox 360 use PPC.

For aluminum Apple laptops, Apple recommends using a damp microfiber cloth or a rag to wipe the system down with. I am assuming the same goes with aluminum desktops. It seems like it wouldn't clean anything at all, but to my surprise it worked fine to clean my MacBook Pro. In fact, it worked better than things like Windex or rubbing alcohol. The water cleans well and isn't damaging, and the cloth used helps remove embedded dirt nicely. This process works well on beige Macs too. I used this damp cloth method to clean my Macintosh 128k.

Ummm....TenFourFox is a modern web browser.

I'll give you the other points.
