Allright. Still not great, but a less blurry version anyway. This time around got the devices with their screens on.

If you can make out the monitor on the right (second right) the desktop you see in the window is the G3's desktop.

Just found this thread and I'm not going to read through the prior 47 pages to see, so if you've already mentioned it, sorry for the repeat question, but is that a Powerbook stored on the wall? If so, that's pretty awesome!

LOL! No, no.

It's the back panel of the display that was attached to the first 17" PowerBook I bought. When the LVCD cable on that Mac went bad I attempted to replace the cable (and not the entire display). Things went wrong in a lot of different ways and I was never able to get the lid back on correctly. Eventually I just replaced the entire display.

But I kept the lid. It is and has been my intent to at some point put some sort of light source behind the Apple so it lights up. Objectively, I'd also like some sort of lighting that gives it that soft edge lighting effect around the perimeter.

I've considered LEDs, but as this has never been any kind of priority I've never gotten around to it - yet.

The new man cave / ghetto recording studio. Not all are PowerPC though. Left to right, PMac G5, iBook G4, iMac C2D, Macbook C2D, Imac C2D. Not seen in photo is the back wall with my amps and guitars.

Cheers.

PowerPC in 2018

PowerBook G4 12”
1.5Ghz 1.25GB RAM
64GB mSATA SSD
Tiger and Leopard Dual Boot
2x near-new batteries

~6 hours of coding and compiling out in nature. Easy portability. (Very) low cost and completely usable in my workflow.

Thrown into a backpack and onto my motorcycle... no problems.

Holy PowerPC Command Center, Batman!
The 2.3 DC was always there, it was just in another room in the house.

Now, it's all here.

Needless to say my wife isn't entirely happy. But she gave me that area so…

I do have to say that moving makes you realize just what furniture you want to keep and what furniture you want to get rid of.

That space will see some proper desks at some point
[doublepost=1526301914][/doublepost]
Unpacked boxes everywhere....all Macs set up and fully operational....priorities :D
Which…are not necessarily my wife's priorities, LOL.

We moved into a house of the same size, but things are laid out differently so there is less space in some of the places we are used to having it.

It took a few weeks just to get to this point though. Still trying to figure out where everything goes.

Glad to see the G3 still in use. Nice setup as always!
Thank you!

The G3 is my server. ;)

I have a 2TB RAID disk attached to a PCI SATA card via a eSATA cable, and there are two Gigabit NICs installed so it has Gigabit Ethernet. :)

Congrats! Unfortunately, Swamprock Central will be down for about a month or so...

Luckily, a couple of good samaritans were on their way to the airport at 4:50am, saw the flames, and woke us up, saving our lives. We lost our shoes, living room and kitchen furniture/applicances, our food, and a few other minor things, but we're all alive and we have great insurance. The fire inspector thinks it was stray lightning. All Macs are present, accounted for, and working...

Hope you get back to normal life quickly!!!

Congrats Erik!
Thanks! After 17.5 years of rent we've more than paid off the owner's mortgage.

Now we're going to do ours!

Jeez...that was close, thank god those people didn't just mind their business and pass on by!

Hope you get things back in order soon.

Thanks. Yeah... I didn't mean to sound so dramatic, but the smoke was so thick, we would have suffocated had those nice people not stopped. We didn't even hear our detectors go off. It's a cliche', but you never think it'll happen to you, until it does...

Thanks. The insurance company has set us up in a nice suite until repairs are finished, so normal life things (sans hobbies) are somewhat back to normal.

There's nothing like ownership :)

Glad you're okay and everyone is safe. A house fire is a scary thing. I can only imagine how thick and noxious the smoke must have been. Smoke alarms have saved my family from full-blown house fires, twice. Our landlord recently put one in each bedroom, which is a new legal requirement for our state.

Having your house struck by lightning must be extremely uncommon though. I don't think I've ever considered that it could even happen!

At least the old Macs are safe. And it wasn't their fault :)

I found a few pictures showing my main desk in 2006 and 2009 so in case anyone is interested:

0719061100.jpg

July 2006. 1.25 GHz Mac mini G4 and 20-inch Cinema Display (as well as a horribly out-of-place-looking black wireless keyboard/mouse combo) as main machine. 1.83 GHz Core Duo MacBook as secondary machine. Both running Tiger. An external backup drive and DVD burner are hiding beneath the desk, as well as a mess of cables.

Later that same year. Finally got a white keyboard and mouse, set up a Tiger/Gentoo Linux dual-boot on the MacBook and added a Zaurus running Linux.

2009. Still featuring the G4 mini (running Leopard) and Cinema Display but with an Aluminum keyboard and Magic Mouse. Also featuring an Asus U1F ultraportable running Tiger (the MacBook was too large and heavy for my taste) and a Viliv S5 Premium 'ultra-mobile PC' – it was somewhat cool to have full Windows 7 running on a device the size of a PSP. :)

EDIT: And a 500 MHz iBook G3 showing Mac OS X 10.0.3 waiting for a login. 'Hot stuff' in 2001.

Thought I'd share my PPC macs... I started perusing this sub-forum after finding a gem at the local recycling center--a late 2005 Powermac G5 with 8GB RAM installed and a GT 6600 LE GPU! I added an HDD and bought a C19 power cord for it. For Wifi, I decided to try my luck with an inexpensive Tenba W311M USB Wifi adapter, but, can't get it to work. There is an account of my travail, here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/help-with-tenda-w311m-usb-wifi-adapter.2126274/#post-26222122

This isn't actually my main computer desk. It is on the other side just off the picture where my Mac Pro 5,1 and Windows gaming PC sits. But, being a PPC setup, I thought I'd just show this area, which is actually where I paint and draw stuff. There is also a mid-2007 20" iMac on the right there, which is sharing its wifi via ethernet to the PMG5.

Is that a cup of coffee over on the right there? :)
