You're using a 1440p display though which the 12" PB is incapable of driving at full resolution. ;)

Well spotted. Yes, the PB 12” lacks the Dual-Link capabilities to go full 2560x1440 res like the 15” and 17” models can. :)

2560Ă—1440 at 30 Hz happily fits within single-link limits so if you fancy playing with SwitchResX that might be worth giving a try. Sadly I can't try this as my high-res monitors are 4K and the 12" doesn't play ball with them at all.

Yes, I keep meaning to check out SwitchResX. My 27” WQHD display was out of action for a few months with a failed main controller board. I finally got around to ordering the replacement board (and justifying the $$ to fix it) and installed the part on Friday night. I’m happy to have my main display back!

I have my Apple //e that I've had since childhood that still works. (Super serial card, Ramworks III memory expansion card, mouse)
Powerbook G4 Early '05 1.67 Ghz. 2GB Ram, 160 GB SSD, 64MB Radeon 9700
  • Running 10.5.8 with Leopard Rebirth
  • Final Cut Studio 2
  • Pixelmator
  • Logic Pro 8
  • Audacity
  • Rapidweaver 5 with Stacks 1.1 and Bootsnap Theme (my website is currently built using this)
  • Aperture 2.1.4
  • Bevy (quick app launching)
  • Bento 4
  • Evernote
  • iLife '09
  • ADT Pro (for transferring disk images from the Apple //e via serial to USB cable)
  • Virtual II (Apple //e emulation)
  • Apple2Commander (for extracting and converting files to and from Apple ][ format)
  • SOHO Organizer (was using this for iCloud Calendar and contact information sync)

MacMini '09 8GB Ram, 160 GB SSD
  • Internal SSD has the same apps as the PowerBook but runs them on Snow Leopard
    • BTW, If there is a Leopard Rebirth like theme for SL, let me know
  • External HD has hacked install of macOS 10.14
Both the PowerBook and the MacMini have dual monitors (one of witch is shared between them via KVM switch). I use a Lexicon Lambda for the audio/midi interface and I can easily swap it out between machines.

@AdamBuker - That's a very cool setup. 👍What's the G5 used for, if you don't mind me asking?

Unfortunately, I'm only using as a bookend for some of my records at the moment. I shorted out the motherboard while attempting to replace the power supply. I haven't decided what I should do with it yet though. Part of me wants to fix it up, but I'm probably sucking up too much power for my studio as it is. Part of me wants to use the case for a Hackintosh build. Functionally, everything I had been using the G5 for is now handled by the 09 Mac Mini.

@Goftrey: Are you sure the G5 isn't too close to the wall? Where is the exhaust air supposed to go?
I’ve had to put my power g4 close to the wall. Up to now I’ve had not problems although I have added more internal fans.

Is morphOS good OS for ppc. The license is 80 euros and expensive but if it makes the ppc G4 faster and youtube videos work through its browser its worth it still for usage in 2020. Your comments please.

I am on tiger but can I upgrade to leopard and will it be faster than tiger, will youtube work? let me know

Yes, you can upgrade to Leopard if you have a G4/G5 but it won't be faster than Tiger.

You don't have to buy it, you can run it for 30 minutes at a time and then it slows down. You then reboot the system and play for another 30 minutes.

It really flies on my iMac G5. It is a hobby OS, but there is a WebKit port in the works, and once that is up and running I'll buy it.

So I guess I should try out the new MorphOS and if all goes well, like @Dronecather mentioned in his posts and videos, looks promising. Just have a question if license is bought what sort of support will be there for updates and till how long.

You have given me a cool idea. I should keep a watch too in here for the webkit works. I have the G4 Power book 17 inch:)

If your objective is simply a faster youtube experience use that €80 to buy a small tablet or secondhand PC laptop.

Search Youtube in this forum - there are many ways to watch it easier without upgrades or moving to Morphos.

This one in particular for Tiger:

No no, you got me wrong. I want to retain my beautiful 3000usd (at that time) powerbook. I just want to use it in todays time and get a good experience. I don't mind spending Euro 80 but how long will I get support from MorphOS developers.

What is your full experience

What is your full experience

I never bought the licence and the Powerbook featured in the video is long gone - as to long term support, I think that's a given generally but for specific things like keeping Youtube up to date, that might be more sporadic.

As I said, you can get Youtube playing in Tiger relatively easy - more so in Leopard (TenFiveTube is an instant solution), then there's a Lubuntu remix.
The solution I linked will give you the most efficient playback (apart from SMTube but that breaks regularly and is currently only working for some videos.)

I suppose they're not "setups" as such, but I guess they are "set up" in their designated locations for display haha. The boxed iMac G5 and PMG5 Quad... I have no room to display them, so they shall stay boxed for now.

And why not have a stack of PPC OS X versions thrown into the mix. (Just ignore the Snow Leopard disc and we're good).

Love the Tron 'Bit' in 'no' state (hmm, is that 1 then?)

Love it! Is that Hotline Client (and server) I see running? And ICQ, yes!!

Those were the glory days

(And a nice spirit orb floating above your crystal skull wallpaper...)

Good eyes. Long time ago my G3 was a hotline server. Around 3 month ago I found the server hard drives with some nice old stuff (It took 10 hours to find the right password and decrypt the disk).
