An that is over an hour and maybe a few minutes of your time that you will not recover, leaving you to recollect that Leopard is still available to shove a FreeBSD derivative back on there, with no issues..
Or OpenBSD if you want an up-to-date BSD.

Yes openBSD is one of the best systems to actively support the line of NewWorld or old world nowadays Macs.

I did notice that when x86 was getting BSD it was version 6.6 whereas MacPPC was already in the lead with version 6.7 and all new MacOS now includes the excellent PF firewall by default.

It does kind of make you laugh that few people take the time to read between the lines... Like the news about the evil baseband processors being used to indiscriminately hack people's phones by an evil three letter agency.

Did anyone out there take the time to read there own internal free as in freedom of information document that the same group published under the title USCC CCID 6 Feb 2019.pdf ? If you had you would have read that the person or persons tracking all minutes of all presentations and memorandum was there own internal Secretariat!

So just so we all understand it, spying on you all with Socialism to protect you all from Socialism... As ludicrous as it sounds that's there mentality.

Nice 10 billion data centre they've got there, a gorgeous monument to Socialism!

Oh look NEW open source base bands for mobile phones OsmocomBB

Lol - Love how they crucify there own tech companies but don't go after the genuine criminal - Microsoft!

Oh an maybe that retail developer guy who built it.

No prize for guessing who!

Evil huawei next thing they'll all be screaming evil Apple! 😂

So what is Intel ME and AMD PSP oh another illegally closed source baseband processor included in your computer chips.. Just slander the Chinese and the Russians, no wonder the USA is the laughing stock of the open source world.

Contrary to what they seem to believe the Internet was not invented by America it was invented by Victor Glushkov and its called the interNYET!

Uneducated American Heathens!

Maybe they lack the education to understand that what is intended for common mans liberation from the evils of corporate capitalism is not intended for use in a massive illegal spying dragnet!

A little bit of old mixed with the new on the PB. The others have since been updated to match.
Running one wireless kb/magic mouse between the iMac and PowerMac with Teleport.

Powerbook G4, 1.5/1.25gb, 10.4.11, used for pixel art/ansi art, using CS2 and VirtualPC/Win2000 with PabloDraw 2.0.8 for fullscreen pixel perfection instead of DOSBox and THEDRAW/CIADRAW. Will come in handy in the winter.

iMac G4, 1.0/2gb, usb bluetooth dongle for wireless keyb/mouse support, 10.4.11, for same reasons as PB.

PowerMac G5, dual core 2.3/5gb, 1tb, came with the monitor! 10.5.8. Logic Express 9 is the main usage. Also got CS2/Aperture. Pcie adaptor just came after a month. But going to have to wait until settled into my new city to install it.

And the other Macbook Pro... doesn't matter much.

Thanks everyone for all your posts, links and useful info.

i decided it's finally time to post my setup here. this is pretty temporary as i plan to add a side desk for the powermac on the right side in the future, but for now its set up like this. the left monitor as well as the razer keyboard and elecom trackball mouse is hooked up to my desktop PC which has a ryzen 5 2600, 16gb ram, an evga gtx 1070 ftw2, 500gb boot ssd and a 9tb windows logical volume for data.
the apple monitor as well as the apple keyboard and mouse are hooked up to my powermac g5 quad which i just acquired a few days ago (you probably wont believe this but one of my online friends very generously gifted this to me, along with 3 video cards to go with it, and a bunch of software cd's and other stuff, and his only condition was that i would make a video about it to upload to youtube) which has the original liquid cooling system, still intact, along with an ati x1900 video card, 9gb ram, and a 1tb hdd, which im thinking about possibly upgrading to a quadro fx 4500/7800 gtx, 16gb ram and 2tb hdd in the future, although i'm not sure if it would really be worth it for the amount of performance that i would be gaining.

computers from left to right (under the desk) are the g5 quad, my dell t3500 headless server which has a 6 core xeon x5680, 12gb ram, a 320gb hdd and a nvidia gtx 780 ti, completely overkill since all it's currently running is my website :p, and then on the far right is my main desktop workstation

Well.... I gave myself and a spare G4 mac mini an early xmas present. A MorphOS registration key. After a few days of searching, i found just enough software to fit most of my relatively basic needs. The mini got a good cleaning and a new old stock 40gb HD beforehand, so i'm not worried about it biting the dust anytime soon. The most impressive part (besides the speed) is the entire system, with me downloading and installing a good 20-ish programs, weighs in at a whopping 760mb. At $96.05 USD for the license key i hope i use this machine more than a few days. ;)

I have to ask, what's web browsing like on it? I've looked up that sort of thing a good deal, but everything I've read has made it seem like MorphOS is worse off in that department. I'd like to be wrong.

It's decent. OWB is getting dated, but it's about as fast (and old) as LWK on Leopard. For general browsing it's pretty good. There is a new browser (wayfarer) in beta right now based on mid-2020 webkit. It's a bit slower (obviously) and lacks multimedia support at this stage in its development, but it works with github, and it'll get you in to those stubborn sites that give OWB the finger. https://wayfarer.icu/

Cheers

Yeah, i just fit the recommended minimum requirements for wayfarer at 1.5ghz and 1gb ram. It's speed is not bad, but OWB smokes it on this machine. The difference in speed is like comparing LWK to TFF. It's quite noticable. Nice to have an updated backup browser for sites that require it though. Like you said... it can only get better. It's already an impressive beta.

A couple of years ago I forked out US$99 for an ArcaOS license even though I have no real use for OS/2, much less any software exclusive to it. It is still fun to play around with something I was deeply impressed with back in the mid-90s or so (like its DOS and Windows 3.1 VMs that ran in a window). I don't even ask myself whether it was worth that much. Probably not but... whatever. :D

My twin brother and i share an office so I am going to share both of our setups in this post. First I will share his desk and setup which has a much larger desk now (pics 1-3 and 10). 1st desk setup he has a 20'' imac g4 which was upgraded in June to have a solid state hard drive and 2GB of ram, 2nd his everyday computer a 2016 macbook pro 15" nothing to speak about here, and 3rd his powermac g4 mdd dual 1.25gz which is actually the first powermac we both had to share when we were younger but became his after we got more computers. Second desk setup(its actually on top of a bookcase that is lower) is My g4 cube and his Performa 580CD (pics 4-6) we don't use his performa much as it has a dead hard drive and we have yet to replace it with a new one. Third and lastly in this post is my desk setup (pics 7-9 more in next post) 1st is my imac 2017 which is my daily driver, 2nd is my 2013 13'' macbook pro that i got back in my senior year of high school. More continued in next post with my g5

3rd is my quad core powermac g5, it sadly only has 4gbs of ram at the moment but I would like to have 8 in it but that will be a project for another day. My current project is setting up my house as it has just been moved to our property and I want it ready to move into by the spring :) Just a couple days ago my brother and I went under it and wired it up for networking and television since it was easy to do because we pulled all of the old insulation out from under the floor to replace it with new insulation to improve the r value. So while I would like to buy more powermac to add to my collection I will be busy all fall, winter, and spring fixing up my new house with my brother to have anymore projects on my hand for now.

Wow, you went deep there bud. Hopefully one day you'll find your way out of your conspiracy theory echo chamber and be able to see things with a different perspective.

To me, this is the true tyranny of social media: Algorithms that keep feeding people like you conspiracy theories, and hardening your point of view - no matter how factually flawed. It gets you to keep listening to one fringe goofball after another, which is the point - to keep you watching.

And getting captive eyes is all that Google/Facebook/Twitter really want. That sells ads, which make them money.

I love this! I wish I had the space in my house to dedicate a room to old macs. The only true collectable I have is a 2001 blue and white g3. I put two 120gb SSDS in there and loaded up os 9.2 on one of them with all my old classic software, then another with 10.4 Tiger on it with all the PPC stuff I saved over the years.
Unfortunately, the thing spends almost all of the time in storage since I don't really have a nice place in my small house to set it up permanently.
