Does anyone have experience with connecting an older computer to a newer monitor? I've got the apple VGA adaptor, but neither of my HDMI-VGA adapters work in conjunction with it.
I had no idea they weren't bi-directional! Wow, learn something new everyday. I just ordered this: https://www.amazon.com/Monitor-Conn...=1&keywords=VGA+to+HDMI&qid=1615413194&sr=8-5Those adapters go from HDMI to VGA only. What you need is the other way round. You need something like this:

VGA to HDMI Adapter with USB Audio & Power – Portable VGA to HDMI Converter – 1080p
Convert a VGA signal from a laptop or desktop to HDMI (USB-Powered)www.startech.com
Yup! It has a 3.5mm - 3.5mm cable + USB cable that go along with it, and it works to pass audio along to the TV which goes to optical out. Never though it would be so easy!@Eason85 - Kudos for showing PoP 2So I take it that VGA to HDMI thingy is working fine?
I had one of those 12inch ibooks.Just got my old PowerMac G4 Gigabit running. Dual 1.2 GHz Sonnet CPU upgrade, Radeon 9000 AGP, and 1 Gb of RAM.

@ervus - Wow! What CPU have you got in there?
Really ? I have a Blu-ray player in the Quad and it plays Blu-ray movies with no issues. There shouldn't be any issues as long as you ensure that you're using an 80 pin PATA drive. Even the Quad G5 doesn't have the power to play most blu-ray movies though, so it will be for data only...
