I thought it would be interesting to see what apps people use regularly that Proactive has learned to recommend at certain times.

About a week and a half ago I switched from listening to Podcasts to watching Netflix during my morning run on the elliptical and this morning when I cut on my iPad I saw the Netflix icon in the lower left corner and then again in the multitask view in the same place where Handoff shows up but with the message Good Morning! This is really awesome so it made me curious to see what your Proactive experience has been.

Check out the screenshot below and please post your own experience with Proactive.

I've noticed just about every time now I get in my car and plug in my phone Maps will give me traffic time to what it believes my next destination will be (it has been quite good about this) and music autoplays. Only issue is every time it starts it plays my music alphabetically by song title instead of picking up where I left off.

I've not heard of Music playing automatically. Not sure how I feel about that. Did the music play after you plugged in?

My phone has been doing this ever since I bought a vehicle that supported bluetooth music streaming. I don't think that is part of Proactive. It can be very jarring at times. I wish there was a way to prevent it.

Did it just appear or also start playing?

The BT in my truck works automatically, if I was playing music before (I guess if the music is still showing in the lock screen), then it starts playing.
The way proactive should work, or at least the way I understood it, was that it suggests the app on the lock screen, but you still have to manually start it to play music.

Has always just started playing. Haven't noticed any app icon on the lock screen since going to iOS 9.

My car supports Bluetooth music streaming and when I turn it on and it connects to my phone the music app opens but doesn't play. The icon sits on the lower left and the artwork for the very first song in my library shows on my lockscreen.

I also got this as soon as I woke up yesterday:

Because I usually open mail after I turn off my alarm.

That's cool! This doesn't seem to work on my 6 Plus. I've only seen these features on my iPad Air 2. Anybody else have iPhone screenshots to share besides the Music app?

This has been happening to me too! I just recently got a car that uses BT to play music so I wasn't sure if that was the problem or what but I find it very annoying/jarring that it plays my music alphabetically and not by where I left of... Definitely hoping its a bug

Even on ios8 my car's Bluetooth would automatically start playing. Either where I left off, if the music app/Spotify was still loaded, or a random song. No idea how to turn this off.

Back to topic though, now when I sit in the car, the music icon pops up in the lower left corner. And "suggested contacts" has picked up who I message often in the morning, afternoon, or evening and displays those contacts at the appropriate time.

I think in future betas and GM it should be able to pick up more info on how we use our devices. Pretty cool overall

I get this too.

In my car if you have it set to Media then it will pick up the bluetooth and start playing. Has always done this. However on occasion it would "forget" the playlist or song being played and start at the first Alphabetically listed song. It did this on iOS 8.3 but I could link it to perhaps a you tube video had been played so it wasn't sure what to do. However on the iOS 9 beta it has happen a lot more often and in fact as happened when I attempted to continue listening to a song when have been using earphones, with no change of app...

So this def looks like a bug to me and a reported it as such - I do wish there was a "it did it before but no where nearly as often" option on the feedback tool

Every morning when I get in the car and my phone connects to the Bluetooth I almost always launch Overcast to listen to podcasts. This morning I got in, pulled out my phone and the Overcast icon was in the lower-left of the lock screen. Very nice and convenient.

One thing I will say however is that for those of us that meticulously keep our apps organized, all this proactive stuff is less relevant. I have a single home screen full of icons (everything else is in a single folder) that only includes the apps I use most often. Those apps are the ones I would need quick access to, so this doesn't save me all that much time really. It is neat though.

Still not seeing any of this on my iPhone 6Plus. I may need to do a clean install for this to start working. I use my iPhone a lot more than my iPad so it should know by now what my habits are. Maybe beta 4 will fix it.

When I turn my car on and my phone connects via Bluetooth, I get an ETA for wherever I need to go. So it'll give me an ETA for driving to work, and it'll give me an ETA for my trip back home.

This is without you putting in a destination in Maps?

Well it'll give me an ETA for work because I put the location in the calendar event. And I have my home location set in maps. So when I get out of work and my phone connects to my car, it'll give me an ETA to my home location.

Also, if I take a drive somewhere, even without putting in a destination, it'll give me an ETA for the drive back home when I turn the car on.

I love this feature except for the alphabetical artist auto play. That's actually the most frustrating thing, having to find where you left off in whatever playlist you were in...

The alphabetical auto play is driving me crazy. As soon as my phone connects to my car stereo via Bluetooth, it starts playing the same damn song every time.

My iPhones have done this since I got my first car that had bluetooth streaming... wish it didn't.
