The Rasterbator was posted here quite some time ago, and is a pretty nifty (web)application. So, let's see your Rasterbations, if you don't have any, then get busy!

I don't know why, but I'd never actually printed one up until tonight. Now I have, and I wanna see what you lot have done :D

I have no idea, just something I happened upon ;) :p

Anyway, this isn't about *that*. Just wanted to give the old "let's see what you've rasterbated" another go, curious to see others. What images they've chosen, where they've put them, how large etc.

It's always difficult to admit to yourself that you're a moron, but this is one of those cases.

I decided that I would go ahead and rasterbate an image of my family (whoever came up with that term has a sense of humor), and it's not going so well. I made it big (in terms of pages) but then I couldn't view it all at once.

So I made it a single page. Here's what it looks like:

Family.jpg

Yikes!

If I zoom out on it, you can start to see what it's supposed to look like:

Zoomed.jpg

So my question is - what am I doing wrong?

The idea of the rasterbator is that you print out all the pages and piece them back together so that you can use a small image to make an enormous display. For instance, I have a small screen cap of Darth Vader that is now on my bedroom wall 6 feet wide! I'll post a pic in a bit.

Use more pages and the smallest possible max dot size (7mm, I think). That'll do the trick!

I realize the idea behind printing out a lot of pages and getting a wall-sized posted. That I've done.

I just didn't post my question very well. I assumed e had made his image only one page to upload for us to see, vs. taking a picture of many pages put together. Perhaps I am mistaken, and the only way to get a reasonable image like what e posted (aside from using Keira, of course) is to photograph the complete printout once you've hung it up.

Edit: Nevermind, in taking a closer look, I can see Keira's pinned to a bulletin board.

This is a raster of the immortal Buckethead. I cut and mounted each page onto blackboard, then cut them again so I would have nice tiles to mount on the wall.

Tough call. They're both pretty pretentious.

My, you're just not a happy camper, are you? :(

I like the color. Definitely brings out the glowing eyes. :p

Oh, and since hardly anyone read my thread on the topic, this is a perfect example. I know some of you use Firefox!

Does this flash drive your firefox crazy, or do I have a setting issue? Whenever I scroll the window or even move stuff around, half the flash app fails to update, and big pieces of it go blank. Then I have to mouse around in the dark to find one of the toggle buttons that includes a refresh. I see this failure to buffer on a lot of Flash, only in Firefox. Is there a fix?

Just ignore apple2991, who apperently has misplaced her smilies, or manners... :p

I have Firefox, I read the other thread, and I still have no idea what you're talking about... What am I missing...? And maybe that discussion should continue back in your thread...?

Wow, okay, I'm so sorry!

Here's the raster I was working on. And then I'll leave.
No need to appologize, or leave for that matter, I'm a sucker for cross-thread links myself, but there are rules about staying on topic, and this thread is started by one of the newest members of the mod squad... ;) (I'm sorry if that one's been used before :D)... and, so, to stay on topic:

Nice rasterbation... :)

By the way, the word rasterbation reminds somewhat strangly familiar... I just don't seem able to get a hold of it... :p

No- they don't have to be high quality- in fact, I think they have to be under 1 Mb. The one I posted was actually a fairly tiny web image. If you're doing many pages, they standard dot size should be fine, but if you're doing one that's only like 4 or 8 pages you'll want to decrease the dot size.

Cannot deside whether I like it best in colour or b/w...

is it possible to do the b&w but keep the colored eyes? That would look evil!
