Not something you see everyday. We're about 3 months out from phasing our iSeries out completely. We have a hosted app running at the software vendor/developer's data centers, so our last system was payroll. We previously ran a system called DISC on it for our sales systems, inventory, etc. 20+ years on the same software, but the developers were slowly retiring or in a few unfortunate cases dying.

Interesting.

Yeah not many folks use RPG anymore either. I hope in the next 5-10 years we move on. But, I'm an optimist.

All in all it matters not, in August I start Police Academy, time to move on in life. :)

It's all sorts of temperatures depending on the weather (and it's nowhere near stable this time of year here). But usually around 70-75. Dipping to 65 or less in the winter since I'm by an entrance that lets a lot of cool air in.

Celsius or Fahrenheit?

Haha, ºF. No longer at that job but it was a nice place to be the majority of the time. I preferred the server/switch/firewall/whatever room over the cubicles because I really dislike cubicles. Makes me feel like part of the herd or something.

My current desk is at home and looked like this right after I set it up.

But in the real world it tends to be a little more like this. Mail, tools, flash drives, notes, 8 port switch, some SATA cables, a Win 10 DVD, iPhone, hard drives laying around etc.

Here is my home office, the pictures are bad, I may retake them with my Nikon.

  • Triple boot kick-ass Windows/Linux/OSX PC.
  • rMBP 2013 + 4k LG (which will probably go back on the PC).
  • Emotiva DAC
  • Yaqin tube amp
  • and a lot of hidden things (ie: drawing tablet..)

I would seriously love to have your tube amp and DAC. What headphones or speakers do you drive with those?

Emotiva don't make the XDA-2 DAC anymore but they are plenty of alternatives. The Micromega DAC is one of the cheapest bad-ass DAC on the market (300$CDN). The tubes amplifier is affordable, I got it on Ebay (tabnaac). The guy order them from Asia but he test them before shipping them back, he also does repair if there is something wrong with it.

I did a bit of research before ordering it and it's really well made amp for the price. You can also do plenty of tubes rolling if you want to upgrade the sound but I found it so perfect out of the box. My speakers are Axiom M22, they have a very weak bass so I paired them to a 8" sub which make an ass kicking system. I'm thinking about getting Dali zensor3 or something from MonitorAudio.

This amp is similar (+ vumeter) : http://www.ebay.ca/itm/YAQIN-MC-13S...896092?hash=item1ec37ef45c:g:A3UAAOSwdGFYwa6j

Mine is a MC-10T, it was availble in 2-3 color schemes. It's very loud, you can crank the volume at 75% before getting distorsion but it's an inconfortable volume level. The sound is very warm, the amp too, this must be taken in consideration.

Is it an HP then? I was under the impression that slim HP dock could only drive 2 displays (I'm very likely going to be switching to a machine that uses that dock connector and am leaning towards adding a third display).

Yes, it is an HP doc. With the laptop closed it runs all three, if I open the laptop it will only run one and the laptop display.

One monitor is VGA, one is HDMI, and one is on an HDMI to VGA adapter.

IMG_4508.JPG Having 2 monitors helps when you have to read manuals and an illustrated parts catalogue.
Good ol' Windows 7 at work
