LexR,

That's really strange to me. I was using a MVC Flashed GTX 780TI and couldn't get 60hz to work. I'm now using a R9 290X and having the same problem. What version of OS X are you running?

Cheers,
Jon

what monitor are you running? I was starting to believe that MST 4K screens where best suited to AMD cards and SST 4K screens worked better with nVidia cards but if your having issues with both nVidia and AMD cards with your screen that kind of blows that idea away. What particular issues are you having? are you using switch res? have you tried forcing the native freq to 50Hz whilst using the AMD card? more details here

I've had no trouble running 4K with my Acer B286HK both in my 1,1 and my Hackintosh with as weak of a card as a GTX 660 is. Connected via DisplayPort 1.2 (make sure you're using a DisplayPort 1.2 Cable, most cheap, generic cables are 1.1) with no issue. Full 4K is available at 60Hz, but I choose to run at 1440p Hi DPI in OS X.

My main station is a Hackintosh, but I've still got a 1,1 in production at work.

cMP 2006 1,1 - 2.00GHz 8 core L5335 Low Voltage Xeons with 14GB DDR2 FB-DIMMs @ 667MHz

OS X 10.10.2 using Piker-Alpha's Boot.efi

Unflashed Radeon 4850 Using QE_CI Exotic Patch

Classic Acrylic Cinema Display @ 1920x1200.

This system was also fine running my Acer B286HK with an unflashed GTX 660 @ Native UHD 60Hz.

as soon as this display is plugged into 290x running in osx - black screen on all connected displays, pretty sad.

I'm using a Dell UP3214Q with Displayport 1.2 enabled. No luck for me with Nvidia or AMD :( Should I be having to use any special utility or should 60z be working out of the box?

I should add however that I am getting full 3D acceleration and can run 4k @ 30z with the 290X / Dell combo.

Have you tried the hack to force the refresh rate to 50Hz via the kext mod as detailed in the Apple forum? I have posted the link in one of the replies above??
