So how's the brightness on your LE1600? Mine seems rather low.
I trust you have it 'cranked' to full brightness via Motion Dashboard? Even at full, mine isn't all that bright. (I don't have the view-anywhere screen myself. I'm assuming you do, judging by the viewing angle of your pic?)

I think the lack of screen brightness is a tradeoff for the better wacom screen. I don't mind it- I don't intend to try using the tablet outside in direct sun, and indoors the screen is fine for my needs.

As for the thumb-reader: understand, it doesn't show up in the device manager. It will 'just work' when Windows 7 installs TrueSuite. I didn't purposefully install anything to get mine working, other than update Windows 7 (Professional). Then 'fingerprint' in start menu will launch the setup for it.

I see your screencap and raise you mine:

Did you have to enable tpm?

EDIT: Maybe it's busted on mine? That button above the read doesn't seem to do anything either.

Since you get nothing under 'fingerprint' and I assume the folder 'TrueSuite' isn't in your Program Files folder, then it's probably just no driver is loaded.

Try this: run Windows Update. To the left, select 'View Update History'

If Athentec Inc driver isn't on the list, then do a check for updates. It should show up under recommended updates. You can select only it and it should install.

I ran all recommended updates on December 15th and you can see that it was part of the recommended updates. Before that, no print reader. After that, it works fine.

The lock button beside it is like a ctrl+alt+del button- bringing up the lock/ logout/ task manager options. I imagine it doesn't work without the Authentec driver as well.

Side note: obviously the recommended Motion Computing -Other Hardware- button driver makes all the other buttons works as expected.

Anyway, if you can't get the reader working, it's not that big a deal. I like using mine, but everyone else I know with one of these tablets (co-workers who got one after they saw mine) haven't bothered with it.

Mine. I know it's not a iPad but I couldn't afford a iPad 2 and I didn't want a first gen.

I don't understand why people don't save up for the thing they want.
A wifi Galaxy Tab is like $350... you could have waited two months and save up another $150 and get the iPad 2.

If you got the Galaxy Tab because you think it's better then good for you. But if it's just a money reason, why spend the time being miserable when a little time and saving could get you what you want?

Just a little weird thing I've noticed in people. Life is short.

I like the Galaxy Tab. I just didn't want another iOS device honestly and wanted a smaller than 10" screen so the Tab fit the bill.

I also have an Amazon Kindle. I have the 3G version and it really comes in handy for web browsing at the beach or out in the sun.

Just an update, I got the finger print reader to work. I got the dreaded "power adapter not changing battery issue" so I took it apart and saw that the fingerprint reader cable had come loose. Now everything is right as rain
