I didn't think TM was backing up overnight, at least not in Lion. Also, if that was the case, why would Apple advertise it as one of the new Power Nap features? "When your Mac is connected to a power source, it downloads software updates and makes backups with Time Machine," says Apple.

Seems silly because I've always had backups overnight. I don't however get push emails and notifications.

Well maybe I have been backing up overnight all this time and thought nothing of it. I have been on ML since DP1, so I don't know if it worked with Lion, or if it has been backing up overnight previously.

When I search Power Nap on my 2011 MBA, it brings up the Energy Saver menu. There is a checkbox on both tabs (Battery & Power Adapter) that says "Enable Power Nap while on .......).

I turned it on a week or so ago but haven't had a chance to leave it on and asleep overnight. I'll check it out tonight and report back.

So some people with MBA's have Power Nap while others do not?

Power Nap requires a Mac notebook with built-in flash storage. May require a firmware update. From Apples website.

I have a Mid 2011 MBA and it doesn't show up on my power settings either (GM version of ML) so I'm thinking it will be updated via firmware once ML is released to the public.

Good news.
My assertion was correct. Apple released a firmware patch today that added this feature to the MBA (see attached).
