Well - I did it today.

I had a PowerPoint file to use for a presentation. I created a movie of the file, converted it in Quicktime for the iPhone, synced it to my phone, and headed off to the meeting. (With a copy of my presentation on a usb pocket drive, just in case...)

At the meeting I plugged into the provided projector with my composite video cable, and then played the ppt movie from the iPhone. I used the pause button on the phone to control the pace of the presentation. It was way cool, and a big hit with everyone at the meeting.

To be honest, everyone was so impressed with the iPhone I'm not sure they were listening to the presentation... (grin)

Hey what program did you use to convert ppt to a movie file?

How it's done...

Ok everyone, here's what I've figured out to do to get the slickest presentation from your iphone. (I really wish an app could be developed)

Items needed:
an iPhone or iPod touch
the universal iPod dock from apple with the apple remote
dock adapter for the iphone (if the docks don't come with these by now)
the av connector from apple
apple's keynote

Make your slickest presentation on keynote and you can use keynote to export them to a .mov file. (fyi, if played on a computer these mov files pause themselves after switching slides. but not the iPhone yet). Move it to the iPhone

Now connect everything up where you will be presenting. It's nice to know that your remote signal will bounce off the screen to the dock's receiver. so you can point the phone away from the audience if you want.

Sweet, now you can control your play/pause with the remote!! and your iPhone looks all nice and impressive on it's dock. Videos and transisions are all pre-rendered so it should look great.

Remember to test it out beforehand and practice with the remote. But always remember to bring a backup plan, trust me.
