No it doesn't. It's relatively stable. If THIS is too buggy why not go back to iOS 9?

I indeed have sold my one month 6s plus with 10.2 and repurchased a new 6s plus with a serial that had ios 9.3.2. Disabled updates and have my pptp working. I've been looking if there is a tweak now on cydia that can have pptp re-enabled on ios and i'll upgrade to an ip7 then

Same. Reason I started this post. I lost the ability to VPN back to my Asus router at home.
The only option now is OpenVPN but it's very slow and will disconnect at hotels etc. where bandwidth is limited.
I use OpenVPN on Raspberry Pi and it's very fast. Maybe set up a separate VPN server? It's fast and easy with PiVPN.

Yeah I know but my home router only has PPTP and I only use it for a few quick things.
Plus, using Facebook/Twitter in China is now more difficult.

You'll want Tor, it's a lot more reliable, albeit a little slower.

Nowadays those commercial VPN servers use their own proprietary encryption to connect rather than using common IPSec, IKEv2 or L2TP as those are prone to be disconnected by GFW.
I also remember L2TP is not that secure? IPSec is more common for VPN connection.

L2TP with IPsec is secure, it can handle up to 256 bit AES.

But iOS could only handle either L2TP or IPSec by default. It does allow installing various types of configuration files though.
As long as your using the Shared Secret I think you are fine.

I use a Windows server in my office running routing and remote access, it is configured with L2TP/IPsec and a Shared Secret. When using using a Windows machine with default settings it shows the encryption level 128 bit AES, if you select Maximum Strength is shows the encryption level as 256 bit AES.

On one of my routers, ZyXEL USG310, I connect to it the same way, L2TP/IPsec and it shows the same encryption levels. It would be nice if iOS would show the level of encryption when you make the connection.

are there any iphone apps that will allow you to connect to a pptp vpn without signing up for some 3rd party service?
