It still says "Prepared for Shipment" and my shipping date has not changed. Does that mean even though my order is apparently ready they are going to hold it for an entire week before they actually ship it?! I called customer service and the rep said the only information she has is the same that I can see on my order status and that there is no way for her to know the status beyond that. I am a bit irritated. I need this computer ASAP. My PC laptop laptop shuts down randomly about twice a day and is running so slow i can barely get this site to load.

So what has your experience been? How soon after the "Prepared for Shipment" do they usually ship and how quickly is it delivered after they do (I paid for express 3-5 day)?

well, it's normal that it stays in that "prepared for shipment" status for awhile, before it gets shipped. the reason really? don't know, but i guess i far more better the the status "not shipped yet" lolol.

At first when i ordered mine it went for about a week or so, a little bit more i think, in that status before they shipped. this second time (replacement) think it was a less then a week. It all depends on how fast those guys are making the computers. Don't worry, soon you'll get the "Already shipped" info.

Enjoy your life till it sits in "Prepared for shipment" state. When it ships and tracking information is available you'll be checking where your iMac is every hour. :) This is what I did with my first machine...

Good luck!

+1 :D, althought i am doing the same thing on the second one lolol

I just called customer service and they told me that an item that is "Prepared for Shipment" isn't actually and that it only means they are building it. Why the heck would you even bother to change it to such a deceptive status."prepared" implies that it's already done. Maybe if it said "preparING" it would be more accurate and not as frustrating.

this is odd, most times my ordesr have said 'prepared for shipment' they have shipped within hours (sometimes within as little 20 mins!)

I thought maybe it could be a billing issue because I've been having problems with that card, but they assured me that the card cleared and all is ok. I'm quite irritated. It's been at the "Prepared for Shipment" since Sunday evening which is Monday in China where I assume it's being built. That is 4 freaking days with no change! :(

Did you know the entire country shuts down for a week for Chinese New Year? Yep. I bet you're caught in a post-holiday back-log.

Well.... crap.

aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!

ok, now i get the info the UPS site gives me, saying that was a setback with the shipment...darnit!!

So i guess no one will get there iMac shipped until this week is over...greeeat!

Well...happy New Year :D

Or not...

Due to the Lunar New Year Holidays, shipping service will be temporarily suspended from Feb 13, 2010 to Feb 16, 2010. During this period, orders will not be shipped from our Hong Kong warehouse. Regular shipping service will resume on Feb 17, 2010. We apologize for any inconvenience.

This is what I could gather for this year's Lunar New Year as far as shipping goes, (it is just some site called YesStyle.com) either there is not a whole lot of info which leads me to believe it isn't so bad or my search prowess died recently.

I just got my Prepared for Shipment status last night although it was 2:30pm on the 17th in Shanghai. I'm addicted to my order status which I really believe will show shipment tonight, I've been trying to look at it from the time zone perspective.

Hey it's not even 9AM in Shanghai yet! :D

If yours just changed but ships before mine my head might actually pop. I need my computer! :(

I'd feel bad...

but I have been waiting since last April when 7 guys jumped me outside my house, stomped my head in and got away with my iBook and my just over a year old iMac. I had to wait because we weren't insured and we had to spend money to relocate with our two month old son.

I'm not sure if I could say I need it more or even as much as anyone else but I do think I deserve it. I hope yours ships tonight though, just like mine (it hasn't but I'm thinking positively.)

On a side note everyone should get home owners/renters insurance. I didn't think I could afford it, thought maybe it was like throwing money in a pit, but the reality is that not having it was like throwing more money in a pit. (Money with years of your life stored on it.)

Mine was supposed to ship yesterday (Fedex) with an arrival date of 2/19. I checked today and it has changed to 2/23 (tuesday), although it'll probably be delivered monday.

I hope you guys get decent displays.

Oh man sorry to hear that. I have always carried renters insurance myself. It is only 78$ a year so that is nothing.

It won't ship until Friday

I too have been checking my order status like crazy. It was supposed to ship on the 25th of Feb however on Monday morning when I checked the status it said prepared for shipment. I was so excited because I've ordered previous items from apple and they usually shipped the same day. After a little more digging about the lunar holiday I found some info on Fedex's website.

http://ftn.fedex.com/news/NewsBulletinDisplay.jsp?url=012810b&lang=en

Here is the 2010 Chinese New Year Holiday Schedule for FedEx Trade Networks Asian offices:
Hong Kong February 13-16 (Saturday - Tuesday) 4 days

China February 13-19 (Saturday - Friday) 7 days
Note: Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, February 21 are changed to
normal working days

Singapore February 14-16 (Sunday - Tuesday) 3 days

Taiwan February 13-19 (Saturday - Friday) 7 days

So it appears that my iMac will not ship for another 2 days (It's Thursday in China right now.) I was so bummed to find this but also happy cause at least I have a reason why it's not shipping.

I was just thinking about getting this software here:
http://www.orbicule.com/undercover/mac/

You make a "dummy" account that can only run internet type of programs (with an automatic launch of all internet applications on login! - or a crasy automator that relaunch internet applications every 5 minutes) and let the thieves login in with that account: Busted.

Sadly, even though they change Saturday and Sunday to shipping days the US will not which means it will probably be Wednesday or Thursday at the earliest. They really should try and stock at least a few i7s.

I'm getting mine either Friday or Monday.

Can't wait.

I'll gladly suffer the Yellow until the summer, if my screen has it.

I wish life worked as well as people would hope but the truth is, I got the ip address from someone opening Mail and my gmail getting the ip of all computers using it. I even got the only unmasked guy's myspace and the addresses of people calling him on my cell phone #. They stole my cell and this guy assumed he had a new phone so he would give out the number to people. I gathered a plethora of information and names and photos. The police don't do anything, not once did they do anything useful. I never can even reach my detective anymore. I'm sure there are better stations out there but the law hasn't shown me much to believe in.

The upside is that I now am going to own an ultimate machine, if I put all my previous systems together they would total less than 4GB of RAM and I'm getting 8 GB, less than 500 GB of HD space now I'll have 1 TB. Not to mention Quad Core i7. That is some good therapy. :D

Yeah the police wont do ****, that's not surprising; they are way too busy giving parking tickets, selling drugs and beating up protesters once in a while.

Anyway, I got insurances for the first time this year and feel really secure in case I get my stuff stolen (as long as they don't steal my backup harddrive).

I ordered the same computer as you, i7 with 8 gigs (16 gigs was too expensive). Should be a great machine, almost 4 times more powerful than my macbook pro and has the potential of 4 times more ram.

I'm really going to use all it's potential, I've been developing a music production setup which requires over 6 gigs of ram minimum and lots of processor power (which is why my laptop could not cut it anymore).

gosh, 2 days...
