I never got the demo from the Apple Store, so both prescriptions were just from local ophthalmologists. Eye tracking has been really good for me throughout.
At least you got it done in one shot. Btw when you pick up Vision Pro in Apple Store they do a demo just to make sure customers are familiar and comfortable with visionOS. It is done with the store models so only the light seal and straps will be exactly the same as your own; inserts are the sample ones they use from scanning your glasses in the lens meter. Reason for not electing to do a test demo?

Hello I am new in this forum, so I had no time to read all the entries here. Sorry, if I ask things again.

I am happy with the prescribed Zeiss inserts so far focus is concerned. One thing bothers me when watching Movies with the AVP: whenever the picture is with strong contrasts (dark background with very bright spots), I get a lot of reflections. This can be reduced by choosing a brighter system background but especially when using the Cinema background within ATV+ the reflections can become very heavy.

Are the any experiences or tipps? Thanks for any input!

Do you use an Environment when you watch spatial videos? Do you only experience this issue when in fully immersive environments?

No - the effects are most annoying when I watch ordinary movies. I usually have an Environment running - preferred with bright color. The reflections look like a glare or halo as they are on photos made into the sun.

Ohhh no wonder! So with spatial video the glare would show up. Did you try it with a darker environment on? I know the one with Iceland on it is quite bright.

Do you use reading type ZEISS inserts or prescription inserts, and what do you use them for?

No - as I wrote, the movie viewing results mostly in the halos. Of course, in some spatial videos it is shown too. Bright backgrounds help a little.

I use prescription inserts. I was today at the Genius Bar for another thing and asked by the way about the glare. I got no real answer.

👌🏻, I appreciate the clarification you provided. Btw I found a similar situation from a Vision Pro user on Apple’s forums where they suspect it was light seeping through the light seal or the lenses are not wiped down properly. Check it out: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255483153?sortBy=rank

Thanks for your input. I will look through this thread too. I will contact Apple Support on this item too. Since VisionOS 2.0 is now released, the general excuse of using a Beta for not looking in a problem - which I generally accept - is now no problem. :)

No worries. 😉 I also like to say that when you were at the Apple Store you should have mentioned about the light seal as they can swap out the light seal to a different size that can be extra wide enough to spread out and that your nose does not make the light seep through too much. While you wait can you also use the plus size light seal cushion that came with your Vision Pro? Apple recommends doing that if you need extra space for the inserts without them being too close or tight on your face.

i have this same problem.. since i can’t really use it without lenses i don’t know if it’s an issue with the lenses or if it would be happening anyway.

Was there any light seeping through the Light Seal? Try using the other light seal cushion to see how it feels on your face.

There was a little light coming in by the nose but actually with that light covered it’s still the same problem.. it’s the light from the screens itself causing it

Try using a darker Environment. Don’t use the new Environment that has a beach on it, it has lots of light colors.

This happens to me too, it's light reflecting on the insert. It also may happen without the inserts but not as much as with them.
I kind of got used to it, so my mind ignores it, although sometimes I do noticed them and bothers me a little.
Another user mentioned a while back that it's just part of the physics of light and lenses.

Interesting. The inserts are also lenses w/ your prescription on it, so they are another layer of optics you place on each display where your eyeballs sit on. I do not have the issue when I was using them on the demo, nor glare. I tried with two different Environments.

Mmm. check again.. For example, play an Apple Movie in TV+ and pay attention to the initial Apple logo on a black background.
My inserts are standard reading lens equivalents. I returned my prescription inserts because I was seeing things slightly tilted to one side and that was annoying me a lot.

Ohh! Are you talking about the non-prescription reading inserts? It would be different for farsighted users, my view was never tilted in any way.

I have been happily using 2.0 readers for years so got that insert for my Vision Pro. I recently got my annual eye check and was reminded that the lasik surgery I got 25 years ago corrected me to one eye better for distance and the other for close. I finally checked with the VP on and realized that one eye WAS a lot better focused than the other. I got the prescription inserts and found the response is even better than before so I can vouch for the prescription lenses. And now both eyes are in perfect focus.

This here 👆🏻👍 It is important that y’all with eye conditions get the inserts for the lenses. Without them the eye tracking and response would be off on my end as well; I use single vision glasses but I have one side stronger than the other.

Why on Earth would anyone want to order (generic) prescription lens inserts from Apple rather than from one's own ophthalmologist and optician?

And I write as someone who has worn glasses, spectacles, prescriptive lenses on my nose since early childhood, and am someone who requires different lenses, not just for distance and reading, but different lenses for each eye.
Wow! There was someone who hadn’t done their homework 😂🙄

It's a common problem with optics: The more surfaces, the higher the chances of getting reflections. They use all sorts of lens coatings (and black light-absorbing framing) to reduce it, but the root problem is just physics.
