I was just listening to one of the WWDC sessions. The presenter said 3D Touch works the same as it always did. They added this feature for hardware that doesn’t support 3D Touch.

It does not. Its much slower than previous. Previously it was nearly instant. Now there is delay. Now, this is the 1st beta so that may be it? I don't know. All I do know is, my 3D touch better not go anywhere! I paid good money for it! Not $999 or $200 but still :)

I hope they will bring it back for the 3D touch devices. I'm using it every day everywhere. Especially in safari. I don't like this Force Touch
As I recall Force Touch is more or less 3D Touch and both are often used interchangeably, while this long press way of doing things is basically Taptic Touch. That said, I don't think the 3D Touch options are removed, it's more that Taptic Touch options are added in more places it seems.

I’m just telling you what I heard. I hope it’s just a bug. I love 3D Touch.

Well this is unfortunate. I use 3D Touch every single day. Long Press just won't cut it. No idea why they would remove such a unique feature.

Agree. Guess I’ll be sticking with my XS Max for a while. Two years ago we were all hopeful the iPad would gain 3D Touch functionality, now everyone is justifying its removal. Would be a shame to lose this unique feature.

I can't stand that it interferes with 3D Touch devices in iOS 13. I updated my 7 plus and 3D Touch is so finicky now since they introduced press and hold. Might as well disable 3D Touch all together.

I hope in future betas of iOS 13 they fix this and make 3D Touch feel like it did on iOS 12.

Probably just a beta thing.

Personally I think Apple's implementation of touch and hold was better than I expected. The way I'd describe it is you touch the screen and once you feel a haptic tap that is when you release to trigger the "3D Touch" event.

I've always been a huge proponent of 3D Touch, and I'd still be very sad if it went away, but if it does, I think this is the right way to handle it.

I kind of understand why it might go away. I use it every day all the time, but I can't teach many other people how to use it. People always seem to get confused between force and duration. My mom and my sister can't figure it out and nobody else I know uses it on a daily basis. I personally think it's such a slick implementation. I love how when you start to apply force you see feedback on the screen of the amount of force you're applying until the action is triggered. That's way better more elegant than the haptic feedback, but maybe it doesn't work as well for the general population. Also I think it contributes to iPhones being more expensive than competing devices. So I kind of understand.

Yes! It feels like having to hold down the flush lever to get the toilet to flush. The delay is annoying. 3D Touch was so much more instantaneous.

I was using it today and everything was slow and I was like WTF. When I read that it had defaulted to long press everything made sense.
