That is not how it works :) The reason you can pick it up on Tuesday is because they don't work on Sunday. So if you order on Sunday your order will be processed and to be shipped on Monday which will lead to a Tuesday pick up in the stores. So this is every Sunday. Sorry to bust your theory :)

edit:
It can still be the 19th though. Apple is presenting it's second quarter this Tuesday, So to get great numbers for the third quarter they need to present Lion and the new Mac line (MB Air, Mini, Pro etc) ASAP. So it could still be the 19th though, but not with your theory...

I understand your vision, but you seem to forget that almost all of the models are out of stock (and will be delivered on Tuesday). Normally, there are only 1 or 2 models that are not in stock to pick up at the store and needs to be ordered (and shipped). At this point, there is not 1 of the many stores of this retailer that has a Macbook Air in stock.
This seems to point out that they got rid of their old stock ready for the new ones to come in on Tuesday.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure about Tuesday, your theory about the second quarter presentation makes it even more reliable I guess.

I know the MacBook Air stock is shrinking. But the status on the MB Air at MyCom has this status for about 2-3 weeks now. They will come soon. That's for sure. Now let's hope it's Tuesday :D

I wonder how Apple Authorized Retail agreements work. Does Apple have retailer return policy, or do they force the retailer to sell through the stock on their own? Seems like the later given many places like Best Buy have sold through their inventory, and if they were allowed to return it to the manufacturer they'd have inventory up until the replacement is sent out.

I thought something similar, but was then informed that the iPad 2 was released on a Friday. So no one really has a clue.

Man, Jobs know us Apple fans would line up any day of the week. Heck, I lined up for the iPhone 4, got it, and then went to work 30 minutes later with my new toy.

I don't want to start another thread about this (unless if I were to get more information to warrant it), so I'll just post this here:

Does anyone who lives very close to an Apple store (say, a walk away... or on their drive home late at night or super early in the morning) want to take a little peek inside to give us a hint as to whether they're doing some overnight re-organization just before Apple opens on Tuesday?

I can tell you with certainty that as of right now, there's nothing on the schedule.

PS - You'll see it posted here before you'll see actual employees in the store doing refresh. Remember there's a night crew that works on genius bar repairs every night, so you should always see people in there if you peek in at 11 pm ;-)

Bored now. Off to France for a few weeks to soak up the sun (and wine) and read a few books. Anticipate there will be a new MBA upon my return, and will wait for the Os X Lion bugs to be sorted before I buy one.

Stay chilled everyone . . . .

I know "off to france" in the UK is an international destination, but it's like an Arizonan saying "Off to Texas" ... not really something to try and be rubbed in. Maybe when you get back the UK will finally get the new MB Airs? If you were smart you'd buy it in France w\ Euros, lol

Great tip, thanks. Except the prices are higher on the French web site. And I can get an education / health service discount when I get back. So I think I'll stick to the wine and the books for now . . .

We're off to the region that the Tour de France cycle race just zipped through - really beautiful if you're ever over here . . .

I've been all throughout UK, France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Sweeden, Norway, and France was my least favorite of all the countries. Don't like French cuisine, attitude, etc.

Funny enough, I did enjoy Spain and the UK the most. I went to the UK to buy an unlocked iPhone 4 back when they were not available in the US or Canada. Ended up buying 4 @ Brent Cross. FYI if you ever need an Apple product, take the trip up there, the manager is soooo nice, he pulled out 4 for me even though there was a waiting list, since I'd flown across the world to get mine, hehe.

PS you can still get your discount in France... Apple stores are Apple stores in the EU. Their discounts are region-wide.

Agree the French can be 'different'. But their country is sooo beautiful. Glad you enjoyed the trip over. Brits can be really nice if you treat them right. Try Denmark next time you're over - where my family come from (maternal side).

Just to remind you guys. We'll all assuming that the MacBook air will be released with the OS Lion. No guarantee there lol. It seems likely but for all we know the MacBook air could just be released.

I like the UK because the people are nice. French are snobs... especially since nothing good has ever come from france except Airbus, lol. ;-)

HAH yeah I'm not sure why people are so certain they'll come together. With the App Store, there's not even a need for a drop-in disk like every other computer that's been released around the same time as an OS... it literally could just be given a sticker with the code on it to download Lion Free... simple as that. I am going to laugh when Lion comes and MBA Refresh doesn't or vice versa. People's mindset is so stuck in the old days of software requiring a physical piece of media to distribute.

It does make sense. They present their earnings and then release Lion and new refreshes.

They don't announce earnings until 4:30 Eastern time on Tuesday (a half hour after the stock market closes). They then have an analyst call at 5:00 for an hour (where everyone will be waiting to see if Steve Jobs is going to participate and what he's going to say), so that pretty much nixes any Tuesday release in Europe.

That must have been a productive day @ work, hehe

My boss actually let me get on lunch break early and I even got out 30 minutes early which really helped beat rush hour that day. Why did he do this? Because I let him play with my iPhone for a couple hours since he wanted to get one but did not get the reservation in time.

I remember when iPhone 3GS came out I took my whole team to the Apple store and bought them all iPhones, lol. Ahh, the good ol days of silly spending, ahha. The good ol days.

The 3GS came out in June 2009, well after the financial crisis and deep in the thick of the "official" recession. I'm guessing your business must have been doing well (or you had a delayed reaction to it).

The "crisis" hit the lending industry in 2008 (late 2008), and most businesses didn't react until mid 2009... My business is unique. I took a buyout and retired early... very early... but not many were so fortunate. Those still at my former company have done well though. Don't listen to the doom and gloom of the media, there's still plenty of companies rocking and rolling through the recession. Take Apple as an example :)

Sorry but the Airbus isnt even that great, Boeing beats it

Clearly you don't know what you're talking about. Take a ride on a fitted a380 on Emirates and then you'll get a whole new perspective on Boeing's position in the world. Stop drinking the kool-aid, you're arguing for the sake of arguing.

Yes, France is a very beautiful country.. and off the beaten path that can be appreciated. In any major area it is ruined by the residents' attitude toward foreigners.

But then the Dover area isn't all that much more polite to the French :)

So strange, because the French economy essentially relies on foreign tourists. Without the industry, the country wouldn't exist, yet they have some hatred for those who want to come see their country. It's why France is very low on my love-list of countries. haha

That is very true. With all respect, they would be speaking German now if not the ``foreigners'' who they hate.
