9/17 update: 1Password is now freemium. If you haven't paid for it before or didn't download the iOS 7 version while it was free, before it switched to freemium, then you have to pay the $9.99 to unlock the pro features.

Original Post:

I simply use iCloud keychain but I just wanted to give the heads up since it seems to be a pretty popular and well regarded app.

Edit: zaredh was nice enough to point out that it's simply a limited time price-mistake, get it now for free while you can!

I personally prefer 1Password. It gives me that sense of extra security from friends and family.

1password for free

1password is downloadable on iOS for free. Today only.
Macrumors announced this news, however have now dropped the story.

AgileBits Inc reportedly dropped the price in an error, and the price with revert back to the original with the release of iSO 8 tomorrow.

(If AgileBits Inc is this careless with their own app pricing, do you really trust them with some of your most sensitive data? And why has Macrumors removed their report, how is that ethical journalism?)

Nice catch - wonder why it was free?

I'm assuming because of the iCloud key, its starting to gain ground. I understand reducing the price, but free? How do they make money now? I didn't mind purchasing it, because it's such a great product.

I assume that the app still has in-app purchases, maybe they just want a huge increase in their subscriber base and hope the in-app purchase make them enough?

I haven't installed it though as I don't use it so I couldn't say for sure.

Oof, just a price mistake? I'll change the title so more people know to jump on this before it goes back up then.

Yeah I saw the article on my newsreader, tried opening on safari and it wasn't found. I've downloaded it for free now anyway.

Why did macrumors drop the article?
Would that have been a request from the developers so less people see that it's currently free?

Lol okay that explains it. Yeah, I trust them. I don't believe it was a "mistake". I believe they just wanted to make headlines ;)

Doesn't let me, asking something about family share and no reaction after pressing download

No reason why it shouldn't work.

I love 1password, have been using it for years. Strongly recommend it. I personally like being able to have control over the database and I can see that it is really encrypted. I can also verify that encryption.

You can't do that with iCloud you just have to hope it's encrypted like they say.
