maybe they are just trying to push it in the charts before ios8 gets released.

anyway, got it for free now, thanks. will most likely delete it again, since i'm already using lastpass. but you never know.

It's always good to have it in your "purchased"

I use minikeepass. I chose it because when I checked its source code is open for anyone to inspect so experts can see if it does indeed do what it says it does and doesn't include any backdoors etc. 1password does not allow the same scrutiny.

While a nice theory, the one things that would worry me from the approach you've described is that it give all the unethical people (Hackers) the ability to analyse the code and work out where there are holes in the solution and then use them to build hacks to exploit them.

Taff

saw this on twitter last night. so awesome it came a week after I finally paid for and updated to the new app. whatever.

I don't trust password managers. I have an excel file with my most important and most used passwords. I have a word document with all logins/passwords/email accounts that is massive. They are protected files not shared in any way. I do have 2 backups located on different devices in case of system disaster.
I don't think I could get all the stuff I have put in a password manager, but putting it out there...
I don't think I'm being paranoid, just safe.

I've done that before in the past, one thing I couldn't figure out though:

If you password protect an excel file, is it AES encrypted?

If its not I'd rather use a trusted password manager.

So this will give idevices free 1Password, but then to use it anywhere else, we would still need to buy those apps, right? It looks like its still $49 on the Mac App Store.

I suppose these third party solutions are always better because they add another layer of security - whether Touch ID or passcode.
With Apple's keychain on iOS, all I need to do is unlock my phone for someone to use to make a call, and they can easily view (in plain text) all my passwords in the settings app.
So on my iPad, when I let my girlfriend's younger brother or my nephews use my iPad to play a game, they can easily go view all my passwords in the Settings app.
Is there a way of changing that, that I've missed? Or a way of locking using a different passcode than the device unlock passcode (like Restrictions does)?

I think I may become a user of 1Password now I have it..

I don't know why thats doing that to you. I have to unlock to see the passwords. Sure I can see the sites and the log in name but not the passwords. Though it would be better if apple password locked the whole page not just the passwords.

edit - its the same on mac in safari, to copy or see the password I have to put my log in password
