Another Dell plant - I cannot believe there are on this message board. You are so obvious; come on an Apple board and start selling Dells, MS, or just dumping on Apple. You folk are really running scared.

Are you kidding me? If anything this board has more Apple shills. I'd be suspicious of any fanatic, no matter their creed.

QFT.

Some silvers of wisdom from these Apple nuts

"Macs are cheaper than Dells!" (this thread is a perfect example)
"MBP.. overheat.. because it is made of aluminium! Nevermind the fact that the fans don't even work cos it will hurt Jonathan's ego to have a product that has fan vibrations!"
"You a windows user? Enjoy running anti spyware and virus scanners everyday" (strange, my Windows computer runs perfectly fine without such extraordinary measures!)
"macos is <insert drawl about some heavenly perfection>" (oh yeah, remember the times when you install a point update, and due to a missing file your whole OS installation got stuffed? Apple is not perfect)

My take on Macs vs PCs? Each side has its pros and cons. There is no definitive "better" platform. Mac is good to work with, relax, do easy stuff, but if I need a quick and dirty machine.. the lack of draconian licensing (try getting MacOS OEM license kthx) and superior hardware flexibility (*I* dictate what I want in my box, no offense to Steve & Jonathan, but I disagree with you).. a PC is the only way to go.

Even more ironic? A mac is really a PC with a special big brother chip in it.

Windows based machines do have more flexibilty in the Desktop market, i would have to agree but as a laptop, you cant do any better with a Dell if you want the top of the line the only thing another company is going to offer that Apple can't give you is a better G-chip. Other then that I'd have to say the flexibilty is pretty much the same LAPTOP wise... I would still not get a Mac desktop other then the mini just becasue it is so damn small, but if the MacPro allows me to switch HD's, Optical Drives, Processor(or better yet allow me to buy a 1 chip computer that has 2 chip slots and put the second in myself), upgrade RAM but that will be there, upgrade graphics card, and give me just 1 PCI slot please, or PCI E just something.... Now if this all happens I dont think I will be owning a windows based machine again.

That's strange... because if I go to the Dell Configuration page I get a whole lot more options to pick what I want in my laptop...

To change the hard drive on your MBP you have to freaking take the case apart :p Sorry, but Dell wins for laptop flexibility as well.

As always, Apple wins for superior design and aesthetics (minus the whole thermal paste mishap).

You do see alot more options but most of them are stuff that should come standard to begin with, bluetooth should be a standard at this point, HD you have about the same choices, Optical Drive is the only huge diff choice wise, and with new AMD chips in those Dell's you will have even less choices...
