Would you take a less preferred colour for a better price?

If it were me, I would choose price over color in this case. Yes, I am a big believer in black bezels being better for my eyes, but I've discovered true tone and night shift already make it easier to read and work on my iPP and 7+ (Night Shift).

I am not using the ASK as much as I initially was. It's more of an expensive clipboard for when I draw in my lap now; but once I start writing fiction and the like on the iPP again, I'll probably get more use out of the keyboard aspect. I just find that interesting that the Pencil is a daily tool, the keyboard part of the ASK, probably weekly.

Whatever choice you make OP, enjoy your new iPP.

Last December Wife got a rose gold iPad I got a $100 discount.
Take the money and run

Thanks guys for all your comments.
Both camps definitely has its merits and sound reasoning.

Seems like it's time for a poll... ;)

I thought so too!
Unfortunately seems like it's not possible to add a poll unless a new thread is created.

It it possible, I just checked:

Well, I cast my vote, but it's based on my own financial situation. To repeat what I said earlier, I'm not sure how that's relevant to you. Maybe $137 means a great deal more to you than to me, or maybe a great deal less.

spending the cash for a device like my 10.5 and then looking at a colour i didn't want every time i use it would be a constant slap in the face. every day. for years.

I would agree. I guess it could be how desperately someone truly wants the device, no matter what the color. But they have to now live with color from that point toward once the euphoria wears off.

Poll Update

I guess it would be interesting to see how some of our fellow friends here think, so I've added a general poll. It need not be specific to my use case scenario below in terms of my model/price of device.

Will you go for an iPad at your preferred color or a secondary color for SGD$188 (~USD$137) cheaper?

I am looking at the top end 512GB LTE 12.9", so this gives perspective on the savings in terms of total unit price.

Space grey at normal price
Gold at cheaper price

Thank you for your comments.

For me, all iPads look great. The gold one too. So, I would go for the price and spend the money on something else. Add a bit and get Air Pods?

If you need to seek the feedback of a group regarding the color of a tablet computer, then you probably should get the color you want. You already are conscious and concerned about perceptions. I'm not saying that is wrong or silly. I'm saying that you should acknowledge that this is important to you, even if you don't want to admit it.

I'd say save the money and get a higher end case or portfolio for it. Not one of the $15 cases off of Amazon. This isn't a discussion of features that you're not getting. It's just the color.

This simply boils down to color tolerance and how important saving money is to you. Everyone is different and there is no right or wrong answer. It's all personal preference.

Have you come to a decision yet, @NightWingz?
Thanks for asking. In the end, I got a Space Grey 10.5" 512GB LTE with education discount.
Still considering this 12.9" due to the cheaper price, but at this point, I would be splurging.

Off topic: Airpods were my best Apple purchase for 2016. And that includes over my 7 Plus.
I concur. Airpods is one of the best products Apple has came up with recently.

It is.
If it ain't important to me, I wouldn't have bothered asking.
It's the heart vs the mind.
The heart wants the desired colour but the mind logically concludes it's merely colour and money could be better spent.

Why the artistic, romantic and preference side of credit always goes to the "heart"?

I don't know who the hell came up with the idea to begin with. It's such an old thing from back in Egyptian era when people thought the heart was our brain & the most valuable part of the body.

My brain gets all the credit, no matter the context be it romantic or technology. It's all going through the brain. I'm a heartless stone-cold dictator.

These are expensive enough that I would not get one I really didn't want, so no.

I could be tempted to get gold or silver in place of rose gold however I wouldn't want a black device so I'd pay the regular price.
