Since we've had this beta for nearly 2 weeks, has anybody noticed Proactive working?

It's working in Beta 2 for me. Instead of giving me randoms apps it now lists apps I've been in recently. Same goes with contacts, one of which was communicated with via e-mail.

Does that disable them appearing on the new proactive/search page, or simply from being indexed/searched by a search that you can run (from the new proactive/search page or from the usual spotlight search)?

It removes them from the search page and moves the app list to the top.

I just noticed something really cool yesterday. After you drive a common route, your phone detects where you parked, and when you get back into your car, it gives you an alert with the commute time back home. If you swipe it, it'll give you directions home.

Haven't used this yet, but I don't understand the point of "recommended apps." When you want to launch a particular app, you launch it. Do they envision someone idly swiping over to the proactive screen -- "Hmm, I feel like launching an app, but not sure which one... maybe Siri has a good suggestion..."?

Well ideally it would show you the apps it thinks you might want to use next. It should become smarter and more predictable after a while.

I guess I just don't see why a user would be hanging out in that screen to begin with. Seems like Google Now, for which I've also never seen the use case. I will try it out though.

I cannot say. Perhaps it will be useful enough for people to go there first. But I understand your reservations. I have never used Spotlight for the same reason.

Let's see if proactive Siri will be functional in today's beta.
It's an exciting feature that for some reason it's not working for me.

In my iPhone I can only see the Contacts and App suggestions nothing else, also Spotlight does not suggest anything on searches, it's just regular spotlight.

May this have to do with the fact that I'm not in the US?

I have not had this alert yet. Do you have location based alerts turned on? Mine was off

Your iPhone detects when Bluetooth connects to your car and gives you an ETA to your destination.
