Hi

I have a strange problem with my iPhone 13 PM (and also with 12 pro) with iOS 15.
When I airplay music to my Sonos Play 5 , I cannot control the volume , if I touch the volume barre it goes to zero and I can't control it anymore , it stays at zero.
If I use the volume button , then it works , and I can use the volume button....
Any idea how I could fix that?
T

hanks

So no one has this issue ? I’ve restored my 13PM from scratch and it’s still there….I had it also with 12 Pro so it’s not hardware I think but I don’t know what I could do…

I've called Apple this morning , they are not aware of this problem , but I found a couple of other case on Reddit....weird.

That's the answer then. When you're AirPlaying to Sonos, the Sonos app takes over volume control. Sometimes I can control the volume from the iPhone when AirPlaying and sometimes not. It depends on what I'm AirPlaying to.

I've tried to uninstall the Sonos app , but still same behavior unfortunately...

I don't have Sonos. Maybe the Sonos app is taking too much control. If so, that's something Sonos needs to address. Take a look in the App Store. There may be other apps that you can use to control Sonos.

I am experiencing the same issue on iOS 15.1. When I touch the volume slider in Apple Music during playback it instantly goes to zero volume (all the way to the left). Using the volume buttons then allows me to adjust the volume and after I’ve used the buttons the slider responds to touch as expected.

Annoying bug! I hope they fix it in the next release.

I have exactly the same problem when I AirPlay to my Sonos speaker. As soon as I touch the volume slider, it jumps all the way to the left. This worked fine before iOS 15 so it's not just the way it happens to work when using a Sonos speaker, it's 100% an iOS bug.

Same problem on my end with Airplaying to B&W speakers from Apple Music. So seems to have nothing to do with sonos. I guess it’s an iOS/ Apple Music Bug. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Exactly the same issue Airplaying from my iPhone (13 Pro) to original HomePod. Occasionally my volume will jump to zero with no interaction from me at all. Very irritating, especially as it doesn't seem to be a particularly widespread issue.

Pretty sure it's nothing to do with Sonos, as I don't have it. I don't think it's Apple Music either as it usually happens to me when Airplaying from the Audible app.

Having the same issue since iOS/iPadOS 15.0 with AirPlay on Sonos One.
I also have problem with AirPlay on macOS Monterey. Sometimes when I change songs in Apple Music, first few seconds play from the Mac before it switches to the Sonos speaker even if the Sonos is active under AirPlay icon in Apple Music App. It bugs me a a lot... plus it's happening on several Macs in my house.

I reported this issue to Apple. I hope they fix it with next update.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 11 Pro (iOS 15.1) when using AirPlay from the Music app to my stereo set of original HomePods. It is annoying.

This happens every time when I start playing a song in the Music app on my Mac (Monterey) - instead of directly streaming to my HomePods, the first seconds play from the Mac's internal speaker.

Thanks for reporting, will do the same.

Annnnndddd it’s still there on iOS 15.2 RC !
This is an absolute joke , I cancel Apple Music and back to Spotify , never had any bug with it and after all Spotify Connect is much more efficient, I don’t know why I wanted to use that buggy slow application Apple Music in the first place after all?
?

ugh...

Thanks for your reply , I've tried that already , enabled/disabled what you said , I even tried to restore my phone as new with the IPSW file and the problem was still there.
I gave Apple support a call a couple of weeks back they said "we will talk about it to the engineers" (yes they sure did)

Well anyway I've been using AM since 2015 and constantly fought against bugs ( iCloud replacing my songs with others , library not syncing , album splitted in half , music stopping after 15s , and now this since iOS15 ) and I think enough is enough.
Never had a SINGLE problem with Spotify in the meantime , well Spotify it will be.

There seem to be a plethora of critical Airplay bugs in iOS 15. My stereo pair HomePods have become completely unreliable when sending audio from my Mac, both from the System Output and Music app. I also have issues when trying to send an audio feed from an iOS device to more than one HomePod at a time. None of these issues existed prior to iOS15. Quite troubling, really. Is the best course of action for us all to submit a feedback form to Apple? I feel that we need to collectively inform Apple of our experiences but speaking to tech support is at times just as effective as talking to your drywall.

I have both Sonos Roam and Play One
Not having his issue at all.

I can control playback and volume on either or both using Apple Music and volume keys.

iOS Settings > Sounds & Haptics > under ringer and alerts is Change With Buttons enabled/??
How about the volume slider on lockscreen? Buttons work as intended, slider does not.

I don't think it's AM fault. As long as you are AirPlaying from any app, the knob doesn't work. Spotify connect is working "fine" with Sonos on iPhone. The knob is acting weird as well, but at least the volume change. Same weird things happen when playing music on iPhone. When I try to move it, the knob disappears for a sec. I can change the volume though.

Um what on earth do you mean by 'knob'? ???

I see Volume Slider on Lock Screen. I think of knob as a) derogatory or b) in your case here - as a rotational, circular manual interface to raise or lower values of a form of energy (be it light, sound).

Like a 70's stereo knobs for volume, treble, and bass.

I meant slider, not sure why it got replaced on my keyboard with 'knob'. Sorry for that.
