Yeah thats bunk, if someone at apple SEES those pictures they're not gonna say to take it to a store. DEMAND a new unit. WTF is with apple not taking back defective merchandise. I don't care you've attempted repair once, take it back this time. It should be illegal to refuse a refund/replacement for a defective product. I can't belive Apple is going about it like this, just take the comptuers, fix them, and when they are ready to be sold sell them as referbs like you're supposed to. Plus the apple staff scuffed up my bezel.

This time I called and made sure someone actually looked at the pictures, and you are absolutely right.

iMac specialist says DOA. Looks like my new toy is going to the big Apple warehouse in the sky.

Last time I called they could care less about the pictures... so you just have to call and make sure that they actually take a look at them.

Glad you got it worked out, I am going to have to call tomorrow as my computer died again tonight. I want it DOAed not in perpetual repair, or at the very least I want them to order the part and then have me take it in.

Well the folks at the apple store were so nice. They let me keep my machine and are going to say that its unrepairable and they're ordering me a replacement. Thankyou applestore people!! :) :)

Oh and they apparantly accidentally got shipped 40!! of the exact model I have (256mb VRAM), but are not allowed to sell them because they got them by mistake. Other wise they would have swapped it right there.

Dead Pixel

Well, I finally decided to trade in the mini (just under a year old) for a new Intel iMac!! So I headed to my nearest Apple Store, just over an hour away. Ever-willing to go the distance and spare the gas for a new Mac! I told the salesman I wanted a 17" iMac and a Canon printer. After hearing several minutes about iLife '06, .Mac, and AppleCare, as well as an attempt at selling me a different printer than the MP500 I asked for, I finally got my computer. $1510 later (and a little haggling with the cashier over student discount; he insisted it was only $50 for the iMac) I was on my way home with my new joy.

Well, I got home, and the first thing I tested was Front Row. And there was a dead pixel. Jared told me Apple would not take it back. So I took a picture, and he agrees it's really bad and probably a grouping of pixels and not just one. So I get to drive back down there, hopefully get a replacement, and drive back. The dead pixel(s) is (are) so bad that I can't watch movies without a glaring red dot in the center top of the screen. Totally blows. Hopefully things will get settled and I will have a flawless machine. We'll see.

Well, you just bought the machine right? They have a return/exchange policy, they have to exchange it. When I bought my iBook, for some reason it would not sit level and the bottom of the case was slightly warped, I took it in and they handed me a new one without any hassle.

Well most companies won't replace screens/machines for a stuck pixel or two, but this is really really bad and bright. Hopefully they won't be too bad.

I did drive back to Apple, and they did let me exchange. Bastards didn't even open the box!! I could have had an extra Mighty Mouse (useless when compared to my Microsoft mouse) and remote. Anyhow, they exchanged it without question or review, and even let me move a display of theirs so I could test this iMac before driving back home. They were surprisingly nice to me, unlike the last time I went to the Apple Store/Genius Bar. Anyhow, I have an iMac without any visible dead pixels, and I can be happy in my new investment! Two points for Apple.
