At first I thought it was a pixel error, then I saw this conductive spot in the same place on my replacement unit. Later, I went to an Apple Store and noticed that all demo units also had this "error". You can only see it when the sun shines on the display from a certain angle - but then very clearly. It can be reproduced by shining a lamp on the display.

Did you also notice this or did you have other experiences? Something seems to reflect behind the display..

It also shines through or reflects when the device is completely switched off.

Yes, I can confirm the same spot - only visible in sunlight on my iP 14 PM (both screen on and off).
For me it's a non-issue, as long as it's not visible under normal usage scenarios. G9N panel here, btw.

Isn’t one sensor under the screen on this years model? Like the proximity sensor?

I just remember hearing that once so…

On Tom’s but also on MacRumors on September 15:

“The most interesting thing we saw in the teardown was that the iPhone 14 Pro Max (technically) has an under-display camera. Apple moved the proximity sensor, previously part of the sensor family within the Face ID notch, under the display and below the main cameras, making the required cutout size smaller. This in turn allows for the iPhone 14 Promodels' new Dynamic Island notification/activities alert system.”

Maybe that but in the tear down pics I’m not so sure - but whatever…

Ok I had posted this same issue last weekend and thought it was a sensor but 2 other users responded they didn't see it even with a bright flashlight so I am glad to see it is not just me! I can only see it under direct bright light or if the sun is directly shining at a certain angle.

I was debating what to do because you can't see it 90% of the time and it appears to be under the screen itself....you cannot find it using solid pattern dead pixel tests under normal lighting....so it's not an OLED panel issue.

I didn't actually look for this in some crazy way. I was trying to catch a photo of the mesh screen covering the earpiece that some said was missing but is just really hard to see without lighting and accidentally discovered it.

Here you can see it in two photos, one you can also see a faint line above and to the right side that appears to be another structure under the screen. The last picture is under normal light.

Well this saves me a return!

It’s 1st grade panel made by Samsung. You can check yours using 3uTools on Windows PC: install, connect the phone and check Verification Report in the main window.
IS this based on the Screen Serial Number...mine does start with G9N.

Does this software harm anything to use...never used it before.
