I just used it to upgrade the firmwareMojave doesn’t support CUDA mate. Also 1gb isn’t enough to use gpu render plugs. Just so you know.

hi, just got my RX 580 Limited Edition, contacted it with 2 x 6pin to 8 pin when I boot in to Mojave the fans are stopping to spin? is this normal? please help before I burn out the card, just did some Cinebench render and Geekbench, look stable at the moment
got it thanks, looks like the fans are running under when heavy things going onpfff was worried that I ordert a broken card
!!! Do I need to connect the 8 pin and the 6 pin on the RX 580? I just have the 8 pin connect
thanks anyway for your support guys, the next step will painting on the Case will post when I am done
Thank you very much for the info, just ordered sata to 6pin cable, should work out right? This is critically important, you absolutely need to connect both connectors! Don't use it with just the 8 pin.

iwiwWith my 980Ti, I was sitting in the same boat. The traditional way used to be Pixlas mod, that is described in one of the forum posts. It works great, but you lose one HDD spot from an HDD bay or the unused second DVD location.
However, since EVGA introduced the Power Link connector bracket, you can use that option instead. It is not an optical feature only, it mainly balances both Power connectors. This way you don't lose a SATA Power port and don't have hanging cabling in the machine. It works flawless, looks good and solves the problem without cabling.
I would recommend it for GPU cards that are in the ballpark from a power perspective. In case of the 580, I guess it's no problem. A very power hungry Vega might be a different story.

You also can see the old Y-cable plug that is no longer used for SATA power.
