i asked ppl coming from Lion how are they finding ML talking abt performance n stuff
There's not that big of a difference when it comes to the workflow between Lion and Mountain Lion.
The performance, at least for me, is the same. I don't see any speed improvements or weaknesses or whatnot. It's literally the same for me in performance wise.
On this laptop, specs in my sig. I came from Snow Leopard to Lion to Mountain Lion. Never did a fresh install in any of those, just upgraded.

I came from Lion, and am running the GM, so I do seem to be the audience you were addressing. You also never mentioned performance specifically. So with that taken into account, my assessment remains, it's all pros. Everything is better under ML and I don't see the loss of anything vis-a-vis Lion.
My only cons (so far) are incredibly minor.
1. When I used to use spotlight, I would just flick my mouse to the top right and click. You can no longer do this, it opens notifications.
2. Tabs change their size based on how many you have in Safari.
3. Typing something into Safari's address bar doesn't instantly auto-complete with your most viewed website, it takes about 0.3 seconds to auto-complete.

I agree. After all, your hands need to be on the keyboard to type out the search anyways, why not use a keyboard based shortcut?
It is, though often I'll be sitting with both my legs up on the chair in the way of the keyboard and my hand on top of them, so I'd flick up and click on spotlight while I actually got in a position that let me use the keyboard.
Most of my gripes are with the menu bar:
-Is there a way to remove my name from the Menu bar? It takes up so much space and I never switch users so I don't need it there.
-I also really hate that there's no time next to the battery. It may not be accurate but it's still more useful than the battery % icon.
-Notification center is useless to me. I kinda wish I could delete the icon and just have it be accessible through a gesture like 4 or 5 finger swipe which I never use.
I like the new dock. The light indicator that tells you if an app is open or not is a little hard to see sometimes but I think I'll get used to it.

I also came from Lion. I really like the tight integration now between my i Devices and my Mac. Notes, iMessage, Reminders; I use these daily and it's great to just use the device that is in front of me at that moment.

System Preferences>Users&Groups>Login Options> uncheck the 'show fast user switching menu'

Yup, that works also. Funny because I was command dragging it along the bar and trying to find a place that it didn't bother me but never thought to just drag it off.
Same here mostly.
the only cons i've noticed so far
- battery time meter gone (no big deal)
- i've had a few rendering bugs in safari (patch will no doubt fix)
- after switching airplay mirroring on and off a bunch of times, my screen res dropped from 1680x1050 to 1440x??? whilst i was just browsing without it active. has only happened once, but something wierd is going on
- variable size tabs in safari, but see below
pros:
- much faster
- less ram usage
- mbp runs cooler
- safari zoom out, swipe between tabs. can close tabs from within the zoom-out preview too. I'm finding it much better than changing tabs the old way. MUCH better...
- safari is much faster
- fans seem to behave better. they'll ramp down faster once temp comes down now, rather than sitting on 6200rpm for ages, when temp gets high they spin up a bit and down when temp starts to stabilise/drop.

performance on my box is without SSD. lion had no real issue on boxes with SSD from what i've seen. but if you have a spinning disk, ML is much faster. Once spotlight has finished it's indexing of course.

Interesting, could you please elaborate on this? What hardware (from 2011 i guess) do you use? What exactly is weaker?
seems like no cons really... but notification center dont show notifications from apps on my iphon on the os x. So there is some problems with the usage. seems half finished imo.
Messages, coming from the beta version for Lion, is worse. You know how in iOS, in Messages, you have what's essentially just like an email inbox? And if you clear out a message, the record is gone?
Well, in Messages for ML, they turned the chat window into an awkward sort of copy of that. It used to be you could close a chat with person A and the chats with persons B, C, and D would stay up. Now all chats close together, unless you completely delete the record of a specific chat with person A, an action you have to double-confirm every time.
I'm sure that sounds nitpicky, but it's very irritating. Anyway, ML also has significantly better iCloud integration, and the built-in post to FB/Twitter thing in Safari is great.
