No actually the stats would have you believing that.
And Im sure the families of the 40-50,000+ people killed yearly in the US alone by another person (not suicide or car accidents but murder, manslaughter etc) would disagree with you that it's a figment of the government's imagination.
[doublepost=1458228236][/doublepost]Haha, take that FBI.You're everywhere. Haha
So they store the emails in encrypted form, but they also store the private keys in the same server???
So you're saying the Americas (oh btw, 40-50k for the US? Doesn't check out with my research) are inherently more evil than the rest of the world? Like, inherently, as in genetically, and not because there are drug wars and guns seemingly available to everyone and their mom?
Okay, so let me get this right: I can send encrypted emails to anyone, but what about receiving from third-parties? They don't use PGP yet...
I don't know but, this whole FBI vs Apple writs act war deal going public seems very fishy to me.
FBI doesn't really make it a habit what they can or cannot do in public concerning spy or decoding tech.
Clearly this whole ordeal has caused great concern (fear) worldwide. Now govt and politicians always use fear to pass an agenda... the whole story could be a trojan horse.. where the public's remedies to the invasion of privacy by govt could actually be the trojan horse...

Sexting is a rather ordinary thing that couples do and wouldn't want shared with others. There's nothing illegal or immoral about it.
Also, a lot of people think their email is secure, and they send stuff via email that they really shouldn't. IE, their bank account information. Having your email actually secure is desirable.
One thing I wonder... does proton mail know who is sending and receiving mail, and when they're sending it? Seems like they should somehow prevent themselves from knowing it... IDK how, but that information tells you who is friends with who. Such information could expose members of groups of victims or support groups like alcoholics anonymous.
If I send an email to the FBI using Proton, will they use the writ act to force apple to write code to allow them to crack the email encryption?![]()
Proton has served me well over the last twelve months while waiting for this app to be ready for release. This completes the loop.
I'm already here! Nice place, don't mind the cows.I guess I'll be moving to Switzerland in the near future...

They use your public key and you decrypt with your private key.
Typically you can include your public key in every email you send encrypted or not.
A person/entity that has the encryption ability will now encrypt all mail sent to you encrypted with your public key.
Only you can read the message with your private key,
