What a shame. Hopefully they'll get enough money to avoid this sort of problems in the future.

Please donate to protonmail. MacRumors readers are always angry at companies that do not respect the privacy of the users and spy on them. Here is a chance to make a difference and prove that selling people's lives details is not the only working business model. $5 can go a long way when you think of the millions of people who use the internet.

Runbox had been under DDoS attacks for last couple of days too. Norway based.

Appears Protonmail has now chosen DDoS structure, not saying who yet. Cloudflare? Shouldn't this have already been in place?

This seems relevant to this thread.

I thought protonmail was the only secure email provider out there. Now it appears (As the poster above me mentioned) there is Runbox and there is another service called TutaNota.

Someone has to do some sort of a review to explain the differences between all of them because its getting confusing

Well, as a matter of fact some users have already described the differences between ProtonMail and TutaNota in this same thread.

Regarding Runbox... Honestly I didn't know that one.

Runbox doesn't provide the same level of privacy as ProtonMail and TutaNota can, since they don't provide end-to-end encryption with a key that only the user knows, so you have to trust them. Of course, this is only relevant for mails that are not sent/received to/from a regular unencrypted email account, since in that case ProtonMail and TutaNota will also see the plaintext before encrypting.

Ok I read that ... thank you.

Those privacy fighting developers should really get together instead of splitting each doing his own thing. Just look at Firefox, its a legit competitor to Chrome, Explorer, and Safari.

I just learned there is like multiple messengers that are fighting for your privacy including Soma, Telegram, and Wickr. They should get together to create 1 powerful standard platform like Facebook and Whatsapp.
